Richards not ready for return yet - Mancini

The 24-year-old has missed the start of the season after representing Team GB at the Olympics but Blues boss has positive news regarding Gareth Barry and Sergio Aguero

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is unsure when defender Micah Richards will be fit to return to the Premier League side as he continues his spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The England International missed the start of the season after picking up the injury whilst representing Team GB at the Olympics, although it was predicted the injury would keep him out for only a month.

"Micah - for Christmas. No, I joke. I don't know. I hope he can recover. He has a problem in his ankle. I don't know how many weeks,” Mancini told reporters.

Although the 24-year-old faces a long way back on the road to recovery, Mancini had better news on the progress of midfielder Gareth Barry and striker Sergio Aguero.

The former Aston Villa man is currently carrying a knock but could be out of action for a month with an abdominal problem.

"Gareth is getting better but he needs three or four weeks more," Mancini added.

"He played 45 minutes with the reserves on Monday and it was the first game after three months. He needs to train for other games."

Last season’s top scorer Aguero is expected to return in the near future, with Mancini predicting the Argentine will be fit after the international break for the trip to Stoke on September 15th or even possibly the clash with Arsenal the week before.
