Henriquez to hold talks with Sir Alex Ferguson ahead of 'dream' Manchester United move

Manchester United are on the verge of signing Angelo Henriquez from Universidad de Chile, and the striker says he has dreamed of making the move to such a prestigious club ahead of proposed talks with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Henriquez is one of the most sought-after players in South American football having notched up an impressive 11 goals in 17 games, while he has also been prolific for Chile at under-20 level.

"I am coming to stay at Manchester United and I'm going to play to obtain that objective," Henriquez told La Tercera.

"They are giving me this opportunity and I can't let it go, it is something that I have searched for my whole life. It's a dream I have always had and I can't afford to not want to be here.

"Everything is spectacular here in Manchester. For me it is all a dream. Imagine it, just to be able to play and share a dressing room with people like Wayne Rooney. It's a dream."

Henriquez is believed to have rejected an approach from Manchester City to sign for the Red Devils, and while the teenage striker is yet to speak with Sir Alex, he expects to meet with the Old Trafford boss soon.
"I have not had contact with the coach of the team. Tomorrow [Wednesday] I will meet with Alex Ferguson and we will talk about what he wants from me," he continued.

"I've not had contact with anybody, I am with the club's South America scouts, who have helped me all this time and have accompanied me from all sides."

On the possibility of a short-term deal, the 18-year-old said he would prefer to either stay at United or go back to Universidad than join another European team.

He said: "I'm not sure what is going to happen with my future. I'm not dealing with this situation, my agent [Fernando Felicevich] is, he will meet with the United president on Wednesday and they will sort out what will happen with me.

"I want to play in the Man United first team. If it is decided to send me out on loan, I prefer to stay with Universidad for the period that United deem appropriate."
