Sampdoria have confirmed that they have secured the signing of Shkodran Mustafi from Everton.

The 19-year-old full-back only ever made one competitive appearance in an Everton shirt, when he replaced Tony Hibbert during a UEFA Europa League game against Bate Borisov.

The player has represented Germany at Under-17, 19 and 20 level, and will now line up in Serie B, following the club's relegation from the Italian top-flight last season.

The Goodison Park outfit are keen to bolster their squad in the January transfer window, but boss David Moyes will likely have to sell in order to raise funds for any potential arrivals.

Everton defeated West Brom on New Year's Day 1-0, and are set to take on Bolton on Wednesday as the Toffees look to build on their current position of 10th in the Premier League.
