Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia hints at West Ham loan extension

Out of favour Spanish keeper is enjoying his time at the east London club as cover for Rob Green and hinted that he'd like his emergency loan extended with the Hammers

Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has hinted that he would like to see his current loan deal at West Ham extended.

Almunia, 34, signed for the Hammers on a month’s emergency loan as cover for the injured England international Robert Green.

But the Spanish keeper is hoping that his one-month stay at Upton Park could be extended, with the shot-stopper having lost is starting spot to young Pole Wojciech Szczesny.

Almunia told The Sun: "It's good to feel the game again.

"We will see if I extend my loan. At the moment I am happy — it is a great club with nice people and that's enough for me."

Almunia joined the Gunners in 2004 as a back-up to Jens Lehmann and has made 110 appearances for Arsene Wenger's side.
