Hamburg have signed Jacopo Sala from Chelsea on a three-year contract, the German side announced on Friday.
A statement on HSV's official site noted that after passing a medical, the playmaker agreed to pen a deal which expires on June 30, 2014.
The Italian Under-19 international still had a year remaining on his Chelsea contract, but it seems Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen used his influence to push the move through.
Arnesen told HSV.de: "Jacopo is a player with a bright future. He has gone through all the youth national teams with Italy and has excellent physical properties and skill too."
Sala added: "Playing for HSV is a great opportunity for me. It would be great for me, if possible, to develop quickly here and play with the first team, because this is a great club. Whether in Italy or England, HSV is known everywhere."
Sala joins Michael Mancienne at Hamburg after he left the Blues for the Bundesliga outfit earlier in the week.
