Tottenham's Luka Modric relishing Europa League decider against Liverpool

Croatian midfielder is looking forward to the clash on Sunday to see who gets fifth place and believes the Reds will provide a tough test of character for Harry Redknapp's men
Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric is hopeful that his side can put in a solid performance against in-form Liverpool at the weekend.

Spurs will be reeling after missing out on a Champions League place folllowing a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, but still have plenty to play for as they battle out for fifth and a Europa League spot with the Reds at Anfield.

Liverpool brushed aside an inept Fulham side on Monday in some style with a 5-2 victory at Craven Cottage, but Modric believes that if they can produce a performance similar to the one they put in at Eastlands they can come away from Merseyside with a win.

“Liverpool are playing well, they are in excellent form and it will be another interesting game,” Modric told Tottenham's official website.

“I hope we can produce the same performance as we did at City but this time with the right result.

“I’m looking forward to it. They are a great team and it will show what we are made of.

“We are out of the Champions League but we now need to fight for fifth place. We need to show our character.”

Modric felt that Harry Redknapp’s side deserved more from the match against Manchester City.

“It’s a shame that I didn’t score, it was so close, but overall we played well and we should have got a better result," Modric continued

“I think we can be happy with how we played and we need to keep it going.”
