Coca-Cola has announced that they have ended their sponsorship deal with Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
The England international was dropped from advertising campaigns for the drinks company after allegations about his private life last September and they have now confirmed that the deal has now ended.
"Our contract with Wayne Rooney came to an end last year and we mutually agreed that we would not renew our relationship," a statement from the company confirmed.
Coca-Cola initially said that their relationship with Rooney was "ongoing" after removing him from promotions but they have now severed their relationship with the 25-year-old.
"We wish Wayne well in his career," Coca-Cola said.
The company also confirmed that they now intend to centre their sponsorship campaigns on the upcoming London Olympics in 2012.
"Our marketing plans have evolved to focus on our sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the upcoming launch of our plans for the Olympic Torch Relay."
