Schalke coach Felix Magath insists goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will remain with the club until at least 2012, despite new reports of a clause in the player's current contract.
"Until 2012, he is definitely with us," Magath told Sport Bild.
Regarding a contract extension, the coach added: "We will make a decision in the spring. The initial discussions indicate that we have a chance to extend Manuel Neuer's contract."
However, it is also reported that there exists a clause in Neuer's contract that forces Schalke to discuss a potential transfer provided a Champions League team offer £12.8 million or more in exchange for his services.
Should the club reject an offer for this amount Neuer's salary will automatically increase by £340,000. He also is reported to have an exit clause that allows him to leave this summer for £17m.
24-year-old Neuer has had a tremendous season thus far, and is regarded by many as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. The Germany No.1 has recently attracted interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
