Steve Kean is confident Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones will complete a move to Blackburn Rovers next week and suggested the club are also in the market for more signings.
Kean, who recently took the reigns at Ewood Park following the controversial sacking of Sam Allardyce, is looking to add to the loan signing of Roque Santa Cruz by bringing in Jones.
Following a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, the Blackburn manager told Sky Sports: "We've got initial paperwork for Jermaine. If we can push that through in the early part of next week then that'll be a great signing for us."
The 29-year-old, who has fallen out of favour with Schalke boss Felix Magath, does not, however, look to be the sole target of the Rovers manager.
"There was a signing that almost happened on Friday that went backwards a little bit. So if we can get that back on track, I'm confident that will happen," he added.
"Then we can look and assess the injuries that are coming back and if they're coming back then that's fantastic, if not then we might add another one."
Magath himself also moved to comment on the potential move and insisted that talks are at an advanced stage.
"I assume that the talks have reached an advanced stage if he has already travelled to England. A shopping trip to London might be sensible at Christmas time but not in January," he told LIGAtotal!. "In this respect, a deal should be close."
