Arsene Wenger: Emmanuel Eboue has signed a new ‘long-term deal’ and Arsenal may spend in January

Frenchman confirms contract extension was signed 'two months' ago

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that midfielder Emmanuel Eboue has signed a new long-term contract with the club, while admitting that he may look to buy in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international joined the Gunners from Beveren in 2005 and has made over 200 first-team appearances thus far, and Wenger confirmed that Eboue signed a new long-term deal over a month ago.

"He extended his contract one or two months ago. It is a long-term deal," he revealed on the club's official website.

Wenger has not ruled out any activity in the winter transfer window, claiming that he will take the opportunity to sign players if an ‘outstanding’ one arose.

"I haven't ruled out signings," said Wenger.

"If I have an outstanding opportunity, maybe I will take it.

"I do not want to sit here and say we won't, then people can come back and say 'but you said you wouldn't sign anyone'.

"There's still a big chance we won't sign anyone because it's difficult to find better players than what we have, but if there's an exceptional opportunity, you never know."
