Wolfsburg could reportedly lower their asking price for their star striker Edin Dzeko.

The 24-year-old forward has been linked with several moves to Europe's elite clubs due to his exploits with the German club, with Manchester City thought to be keen on acquiring his services.

It was believed that the player's current owners had slapped a £38 million price tag to ward off interest on their prised possession, but Bild reports that they could now lower the asking price price to £25.5m.

In November, Goal.com UK revealed exclusively that City are willing to offer the striker a £6 million-a-year package to lure him to Eastlands.

Wolfsburg have had a torrid time under manager Steve McClaren, as they are now on a dubious eight-match winless streak in all competitions.

Goal.com UK recently pondered over the whether Mancini's efforts would be better focused on luring Newcastle United's Andy Carroll to Eastlands.

And the Italian appears to have considered the idea, as he told reporters: "Carroll is a good player.

"He's young, he's strong, he's very good. But I don't think that Newcastle want to sell."
