Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has reportedly got the backing of the upper echelon of the club, despite a series of adverse results on the pitch.

The Italian manager's future at Eastlands has been the subject of much speculation in recent times, as City have been unable to secure the right result on many an occasion.

With only one victory in their last six games in all competitions, it had been thought that the former Inter coach was in the final lap of his tenure at the Manchester club. But now The Mirror reports that the gaffer has the blessing of his bosses.

Mancini is also reported to be in line to receive more cash to splash on bringing new faces into his squad, but will have to sell his unsettled players first.

It is believed that City are going after the services of Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko and Barcelona defender Dani Alves.
