Tottenham star Jermain Defoe is ahead of schedule to return from ankle ligament damage and could feature in the Champions League group stage, according to the Daily Mail.
Defoe, 27, was expected to be out for three months after picking up the injury on England duty last month. The original time scale would have seen him miss the opening round of Spurs' bow in the competition.
The prolific forward is making speedy recovery from surgery and is now set to return to training in late November, putting him on course to make the December 7 trip to FC Twente.
