Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini says there is no chance that they will sign Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell.
Rodwell's form has attracted the attention of City's neighbours Manchester United, with his powerful physique and capability of scoring goals from midfield making the England under-21 international one of the most sought after prospects in English football.
Rodwell is rated at one of the hottest prospects in English football but Mancini believes it will be 'impossible' to sign the midfielder as the Goodison Park club won't let him go.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: “I like Jack Rodwell but will Everton sell? Impossible. If I can, I give young players a chance.
"We put English players in the team but it isn't easy because all the clubs that have English players won't sell.”
The news that City are impressed with the 19-year-old is likely to have Everton concerned however, given that City have seemingly unlimited resources.
Mancini also insisted that he will continue to blood young talent in his City side, despite their massive spending power.
"If I can, I give young players a chance. I was just 16 when I first played in Serie A. "
