Manchester United target Mesut Oezil dreams of Real Madrid move

German starlet favours move to join national team-mate Sami Khedira at Bernabeu
Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Oezil has set his sights on a dream move to Real Madrid amid interest from the Spanish giants, which could spell disappointment for Manchester United, who have also been linked with the player.

The Germany international, who starred at the World Cup and has attracted interest from a host of Europe's top clubs, has turned down a new contract offer from Bremen and has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.

Therefore, the north German club are expected to listen to offers for their prized asset this summer in order to avoid losing him for nothing next year, but have already turned down a bid from Real.

However, having heard of interest from Jose Mourinho's side, Oezil now has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.

"When you have such an opportunity like this, then you want to take it," he said to reporters after his side's 4-0 win over Ahlen in the DFB-Pokal on Saturday.

"It is any footballer's dream to play for the biggest teams in Europe."

Oezil only found out about Real's offer when he heard about it on television on Friday night and he is disappointed with his club for not informing him, even though they rejected it out of hand.

"I was very sad about that," he said. "I have said that to [director of sport] Mr [Klaus] Allofs."
