Poulsen has emerged as a key transfer target in Roy Hodgson's rebuilding plans, and Goal.com UK revealed last month that the Dane would be targeted by the former Fulham boss if Javier Mascherano moved to Inter.
And Poulsen's agent Joern Bonnesen has been in talks with Liverpool's hierarchy, but believes that a deal to take the midfielder to Anfield is still some way off.
"I don't know if we will reach an agreement," Bonnesen told Tipsbladet.
"I will go home without a contract and we will work from there.
"This is not something which will be resolved in two minutes."
