Manchester United have reportedly made tactful enquiries into the availability of Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The 22-year-old made a big money move to the White House last summer, after the Spanish club brought him in during the second coming of the Galacticos.
But the hitman failed to make a significant impact at the Bernabeu, scoring nine goals in a season that saw him warm the bench for significant periods.
The Frenchman had also previously expressed a desire to play more regularly, owing to his infrequent appearances for the Spanish giants.
Now The Mirror reports United have asked about the availability of the player, who they were interested in prior to his Madrid move.
Speculation suggests manager Sir Alex Ferguson could be poised for a £25 million move at the first hint that Real would be willing to sell the young forward.
It has been suggested in the past that the Old Trafford boss may fund a move for Benzema by selling Dimitar Berbatov, who has been considered by some as a flop since joining the club from Tottenham Hotspur.
