Official: Newcastle United complete signing of James Perch from Nottingham Forest

Newcastle United have completed the signing of James Perch from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old, who spent six years at the City Ground, moves to the Magpies on a four-year deal.

Perch was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle in the January transfer window and Toon boss Chris Hughton is delighted to have signed a player who is comfortable in defence and midfield.

Hughton told the club’s official website: "James is a player I've admired for some time and it's great we've been able to secure his services.

"I'm certain he'll prove to be a great addition to our squad."

Perch, who played under Newcastle assistant manager Colin Calderwood at Forest, made 220 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
