Liverpool tracking Serbian starlet Grujic

Liverpool are among a clutch of top European clubs interested in signing Red Star Belgrade starlet Marko Grujic, Goal can confirm.

The Reds sent representatives to watch the 19-year-old on Sunday, and he didn't disappoint as he inspired Red Star Belgrade's emphatic 7-2 win over Cukaricki.

Goal understands that Inter are favourites to sign the promising midfielder, who has also attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Roma.

Liverpool are, however, keeping an eye on developments, with Jurgen Klopp having previously stated his preference for signing young players with potential.

Grujic would certainly fit into that category but the Merseysiders know they face a battle to secure his services.

Should they succeed in luring him to Anfield, Liverpool would likely allow the teenager to spend a season on a loan with his current club, as was the case with Divock Origi and Lille.

Red Star are thought to be after £5 million at minimum if they are to part with a player they consider to be a key asset.

The Serbia youth international has five SuperLiga goals and assists in 2015-16 and was also part of his country's Under-20 World Cup winning squad this year.

Klopp has stated that he does not want his employers to make any panic decisions in the transfer market, with any potential deal for Grujic representing an investment for the future.
