O'Dea set for Blackpool move

By Graeme Bailey

Republic of Ireland international Darren O'Dea is set to join Championship club Blackpool , Goal understands.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving Ukrainian outfit Metalurh Donetsk in the summer, and has been maintaining his fitness with former club Celtic, impressing Hoops boss Ronny Deila in the process.

The defender has attracted interest from a number of clubs from both England and Scotland.

However, the former Leeds United and Cardiff City man has accepted an invitation from new Blackpool boss Lee Clark to train with the club, with a view to joining the Seasiders.

Clark replaced Jose Riga at Bloomfield Road after a difficult start to the season in which the club has struggled with player recruitment.

Blackpool sit bottom of the Championship with just one win in 17 games and were recently fined £30,000 for fielding an ineligible player.

Donervon Daniels took part in a defeat to Millwall after his 28-day youth loan from West Brom had expired.
