Gotze: I would love it if Reus joined Bayern

The in-demand Borussia Dortmund star has caught the attention of the Bavarian giants and the World Cup winner hopes he follows his path to the Allianz Arena

Mario Gotze says he would be "really happy" if former Borussia Dortmund team-mate Marco Reus were to join him at Bayern Munich.

Gotze made the €37 million (£29.3m) move from BVB to their rivals in summer 2013, with the deal controversially being announced on the eve of Dortmund's Champions League semi-final clash with Real Madrid.

Reus has since been the subject of a great deal of reported interest from Europe's major clubs with the Bavarian giants one of the parties looking to sign him and Gotze says he would be delighted if the 25-year-old joined him at the Allianz Arena.

"I get along really great with Marco," he told Bild. "That's his decision, he must know himself. But I would be really happy if he would come here."

The 22-year-old was heavily criticised for his decision to join Bayern, particularly because it was announced during the season - before the two sides went on to meet in the Champions League final.

However, he insists it was his decision to make, adding that he is developing well and learning from his mistakes.

Gotze continued: "It's my life, it's my decision. I get advice, but the final decision about my life is one I always take alone. I have long agonised about it. It was a very, very important decision for me.

"I'm 22-years-old. I cannot do everything right, I need to have the scope to make errors. This is normal, as in real life."
