Draxler: I will stay at Schalke

The Germany international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in January, but has voiced his desire to stay at his current club for the foreseeable future

Julian Draxler has made it clear that he aims to stay at Schalke for at least one more season.

Goal exclusively revealed in January that Arsenal had lined up the winger as their No.1 transfer target and sent a delegation to Germany to negotiate a deal only for a move to fail to materialise.

Draxler's agent recently admitted his client is likely to remain at the club for another seasonand the 20-year-old has stressed that his foreseeable future lies in Gelsenkirchen.

"I have no absolutely no intention of leaving Schalke this summer," Draxler told Bild.

"I have no doubts that there will be plenty of speculation this summer, but it is very likely that I will play for Schalke again next season."

Draxler has endured a difficult 2013-14 campaign, scoring just twice in 26 Bundesliga appearances.

He has a contract with Schalke until June 2018.
