Robin van Persie had been considering his Manchester United future during David Moyes's troubled reign.
But the striker is now unlikely to leave Old Trafford this summer as the club lay the foundations for the arrival of his fellow Dutchman, Louis van Gaal.
As reported by Goal, Van Gaal has agreed the terms of a contract with a United delegation in the last 48 hours and is set to be appointed the Scot's permanent successor.

The 30-year-old has been photographed sat alongside Van Gaal at a number of Dutch league matches while he has been rehabilitating in his home country from a knee injury that is not expected to stop him from featuring in Brazil.
