Drenthe set to join Reading, says agent

The former Real Madrid player is due to fly into London to put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Madjeski Stadium following his release from Alania Vladikavkaz
Former Real Madrid winger Royston Drenthe is set to join newly relegated Reading, according to the player's agent.

The 26-year-old Dutchman, who spent a spell on loan at Everton during the 2011-12 season, is a free agent following his release from Russian club Alania Vladikavkaz and looks to be manager Nigel Adkins' first major signing of the summer.

Drenthe's agent, Fabian Veldwijk, is confident the required paperwork will be completed by the close of play on Monday, with the player himself due to fly into London to finalise the deal.

"He's going to England," Veldwijk told reporters. "He is going to sign the contract and hopefully it will be finished tonight [Monday].

"Everything is going to happen today. The father is going with him to make sure everything is agreed.

"We have a pretty good feeling that everything will be taken care of. He is really excited about it." He added.
