No move for Tevez or Valdes, says Monaco director

Monaco CEO Vadim Vasilyev has refuted claims that Carlos Tevez and Victor Valdes are set to join the club this summer.

Les Rouge et Blanc have already started their recruitment drive for next season, acquiring the services of defender Ricardo Carvalho, Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho while they hope to secure Radamel Falcao's signature within the next 48 hours.

It had been reported the club were turning their attentions to Manchester City's Carlos Tevez and Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, but Vasilyev has rubbished the speculation.

"No, we are not in negotiations for Carlos Tevez. Many newspapers have spoke about it, but the issue of Tevez has never been discussed here," he told RMC Sport.

"The Valdes rumour is also false. We are pleased with our goalkeeper [Danijel Subacic]. We will discuss it again with [coach] Claudio [Ranieri] in a few days for the moment we are not interested in Valdes."

The Russian went on to chart Monaco's progression by highlighting the club's new found sense of allure.

"At first it was really hard [convincing targets]. We approached some great players, but they weren't interested," he added.

"They spoke to Barcelona and Real Madrid instead. Now things have changed and we're receiving many calls. It is interesting."

Asked whether or not Monaco's summer business could result in a Ligue 1 title next season, Vasilyev erred on the side of caution.

"No, we are not thinking about that. It will be difficult to achieve in our first season, but we will see," he said.
