Tottenham youngster Mason joins Lorient on loan

The 21 year-old striker has previously had short-term spells with Millwall and Doncaster Rovers, and featured three times for Spurs in cup competitions this season

Tottenham striker Ryan Mason has agreed to join Ligue 1 side Lorient on loan.

The 21-year-old will spend the remainder of the 2012-13 season with the French side, and will hope for more first-team opportunities after playing a part in three of Spurs' fixtures this campaign.

The north London outfit are currently short on attacking options, with concerns over first-choice forward Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor representing Togo at the Africa Cup of Nations, but have been linked with a last-ditch attempt to sign long-term target Leandro Damiao from Internacional.

Mason has previously enjoyed loan spells Doncaster Rovers and Millwall, but was retained by Andre Villas-Boas as cover for the first team this term, scoring 10 times for the Under-21s in 12 appearances.
