Jerome Thomas in the dark over West Brom future

Jerome Thomas admits he has no idea why West Brom are yet to offer him an extension to his current contract, which expires in the summer.

Thomas has made four appearances for the Baggies since returning from a loan spell with Championship side Leeds United, which was intended to aid his return to first-team duty after a succession of injury problems.

And while the 29-year-old believes his performances this term and over the past few seasons merit a new deal, he admits the club are yet to reveal whether one will be forthcoming.

"I did exactly what I was asked to do by the staff here, which was to go out on loan, get fit and perform well," he told reporters.

"I did that, helped Leeds up the table and I've come back ready to battle for my place in the team.

"But as for the future, we've had no discussions with the manager or hierarchy.

"Is this a window to force a new contract? My performances should do that but I'd have thought my performances over the last few seasons would have done that anyway.

"I'm not sure what the club have in mind. I'm just working as hard as I can and aiming to push Albion back up the table."
