The Republic of Ireland striker has had limited first team opportunities at the Madejski Stadium this season, but remains determined to extend his stay at the club

Noel Hunt is hopeful of extending his current deal with Reading, despite falling behind Pavel Pogrebnyak and Adam Le Fondre in the pecking order this season.

The Republic of Ireland international, whose current contract runs out at the end of the season, has scored four times in 16 appearances so far this season and revealed that he has been in talks with Royals’ manager Brian McDermott about signing a new deal.

The 30-year-old is not phased by the fact that first-team opportunities may be limited if he stays at the Madejski Stadium, and remains desperate to extend his four-and-a-half-year stay at the club.

"The gaffer spoke briefly about it the other day so hopefully we can start talks,” Hunt told The Reading Post.

"I'll do whatever the manager wants me to do to keep this team in the league. I understand what the story is at the moment."
