Faubert sets his sights on a return to Ligue 1

The former West Ham man has spent the last five years plying his trade abroad, but is currently back training with former club Bordeaux as he seeks a move to a French club

Former West Ham full-back Julien Faubert has set his sights on a return to France, after being released by Turkish club Elazigspor.

The 29-year-old is currently training with former club Bordeaux in order to keep up his fitness, and claims to have received offers from a number of teams, but is desperate to play in Ligue 1 after spending the past five years playing abroad.

The former Real Madrid loanee told L'Equipe: "I have always wanted to return, even after it did not happen last summer. I love Ligue 1.

"I have had contact with four clubs. No matter the prestige of the club, my priority is to play in France.

"I asked Girondins [de Bordeaux] to allow me to train with them, to keep the weight off and allow me to enjoy playing football, and they kindly accepted."

The one-time French international spent five years at the Upton Park, including a six-month loan at Bernabeu, before leaving the club on a free transfer last summer.

Faubert signed a three-year deal with the Super Lig outfit in June, 2012, but was released after just six months.
