"[He] came into my room to tell me it was feeling empty and he did not feel ready for this match, that he was not in the mindset to play," said Domenech.

Les Bleus crashed out of the tournament today following a week in Nicolas Anelka was sent home for verbally abusing Domenech, resulting in the players opting out of Saturday’s training session in support of their team-mate.

A number of first-team players were left out of the match with the hosts this afternoon including captain Patrice Evra who was involved in a heated argument with fitness coach Robert Duverne.

France went down 2-1 to the tournament hosts at the Free State Stadium, a result that saw them finish rock bottom of Group A.
