Diego Maradona promises to run naked through Buenos Aries if Argentina win World Cup 2010

Streak planned if La Albiceleste clinch trophy...
Argentina coach Diego Maradona has made an astonishing promise to run naked through the centre of Buenos Aries if his team manage to win the World Cup in South Africa.

Maradona skippered his nation to their last World Cup triumph in Mexico in 1986 and is hoping to repeat the feat as coach, allowing him to indulge his taste for extravagant celebrations.

"If we win the Cup then I will run naked to the Obelisk in Buenos Aires," he told reporters following his side's 5-0 friendly hammering of Canada.

He also revealed that he rested superstar forward Lionel Messi for the game against the Canadians because of the risk of injury to the talsimanic playmaker.

Maradona admits he feared the consequences of anything happening to the Barcelona player.

"If something had happened to you [Messi] in that match, I'd have been shot - you know where," he quipped.
