Official: Olympiakos coach Ewald Lienen sacked following Europa League exit

Greek outfit dismiss another coach...
Olympiakos boss Ewald Lienen has been sacked from his role as head coach of the club just two months after taking charge of the Athens side.

Following Thursday night’s shock elimination from the Europa League by Maccabi Tel Aviv, the board have decided to take swift action against the German trainer, who only arrived at the club from a position on the coaching staff of 1860 Munich in June.

Defeat against the Israeli outfit was not deemed good enough by the board, who released a statement on Friday afternoon indicating that after a meeting between the major parties at the club, the coach was to be dismissed with immediate effect.

Over the course of the last year, the Olympiakos job has proved impossible to pin down. Since Ernesto Valverde left the post in June 2009, the Athens side have had an incredible four coaches leave, with Lienen’s replacement their fifth boss in little over a year.
