Northwich boss handed ban for verbal abuse on female manager

Lee Ashcroft is suspended for 10 games and fined £800 by the Independent Regulatory Commission, pending appeal, for insulting Gresley boss Hannah Dingley in a January match
Northwich Victoria boss Lee Ashcroft has been slapped with a 10-game ban and a fine of £800 for verbally abusing a female manager.

The Independent Regulatory Commission found the former Gimsby Town striker guilty of violating FA Rule E3(2) in a hearing on Tuesday.

Ashcroft was charged with respect to his behaviour during his side's eighth-tier encounter with Gresley on January 12, during which he used "abusive and/or insulting words towards an opposition football coach" which referenced female Gresley coach Hannah Dingley's gender.

The 40-year-old, who denied the allegations, has also been given four months to complete an appropriate education programme.

Ashcroft has served the FA notice of his desire to appeal the IRC's decision and in turn will have his punishments stayed until a final ruling is made.
