Fulham lead the fight to sign former Portsmouth striker Frederic Piquionne - report

Fulham are out ahead of fellow Premier League sides West Ham United and Blackburn Rovers in the race for Portsmouth loan star Frederic Piquionne.

The Frenchman’s spell with Pompey is now over and the 31-year-old wants to remain in the Premier League after a successful debut season in England.

Lyon value Piquionne at £3million, a price that a number of Premier League sides will be willing to pay for the striker, according to Sky Sports.

Piquionne scored 11 goals for Portsmouth this season, an impressive tally for a team that finished dead last in the league this season.

Fulham have contacted the Ligue 1 giants to negotiate a deal that would bring Piquionne to Craven Cottage next season.

One of Roy Hodgson’s top priorities is to strengthen his attack in the transfer window and the Frenchman is said to be near the top of his wish list.
