Real Madrid will battle with Inter for Lazio defender Aleksandar Kolarov - report

Italian champions Inter will face stern competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid to acquire Lazio full-back Aleksandar Kolarov next summer.

According to the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, the La Liga outfit were already associated with Kolarov during the January transfer window and have reportedly stepped up their interest in recent weeks.

Kolarov has long been on Inter boss Jose Mourinho’s radar and Lazio president Claudio Lotito allegedly rejected a bid from the Nerazzurri in January.

However, the 24-year-old is unlikely to remain at the Olimpico beyond the current campaign and is believed to be keen to remain in Serie A.

Another nudge for Kolarov towards the San Siro would be a link up with former Lazio team-mate Goran Pandev and compatriot Dejan Stankovic.

Lazio value the defender at a price in the region of €18 million (£16.3m), a sum neither side would baulk at.
