Ipswich Town have signed Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Mirko Ranieri on loan until the end of the season.

The 17-year-old will play for Town’s Under-18 team in the FA Youth Cup this season.

Regular Under-18 goalkeeper Ian McLoughlin is unavailable in the FA Youth Cup because of age restrictions for that competition.

Ranieri joined Tottenham from Perugia last season and has made just two appearances for the club’s youth team.

When Ranieri joined Spurs, sporting director at the time Damien Comolli said of the player: “Mirko is 6ft 2 and an excellent shot-stopper.

“His distribution and decision making is improving all the time.

“He is a highly-intelligent individual and another very good young goalkeeper we have attracted to the Club.”
