The Netherlands international has said farewell to the Dutch champions as he braces himself for an adventure in the Russian leagueSpartak Moscow have signed Dutch international Demy de Zeeuw from Eredivisie champions Ajax for a reported fee of €6 million [£5.3m] on a three-year deal.
Spartak were eager to strengthen their squad after a relatively disappointing start to the season as they currently sit seventh in the Russian league with 24 points from 16 games.
The 28-year-old joined Ajax from AZ in the summer of 2009 and quickly became an important player at the Amsterdam ArenA side. However, he lost his spot in the starting XI in the 2010-11 season and was therefore keen to move on.
De Zeeuw is the second player to leave the Eredivisie for a Russian adventure after the previous transfer of Balazs Dzudzsak from PSV to Anzhi Makhachkala.
The midfielder will be re-united with his former AZ team-mate Ari at Spartak Moscow; the Brazilian striker joined the RPL outfit in January 2010.
