Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal believes the Bavarian side are somewhat lucky to have made it to Saturday's Champions League final against Inter Milan, saying some questionable refereeing decisions went in their favour throughout the tournament.
In his pre-match press conference, Van Gaal admitted that perhaps his side is not among Europe's very best, and are slightly lucky to be taking the field at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"I don't think we are among the best teams in Europe. Inter, Chelsea, Barcelona and Manchester United are the best teams around in Europe, not Bayern," Van Gaal said.
"We are kind of lucky to have made it to the Champions League final. We have reached the final because of some refereeing mistakes that were in our favour.
"That's why we really should be using cameras to support referees."
Van Gaal also took the time to discuss his relationship with Inter coach Jose Mourinho.
"Jose is one of the best coaches around in my opinion. I don't say this about a lot of coaches, but Mourinho deserves it. He has made Inter a winning team and has signed the players that are useful in his formation and style of play."
