Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Both teams have three days to recover before they play each other again at Old Trafford in the third round of the EFL Cup.
Manchester United continue their impressive start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 victory over West Ham United at London Stadium. The Red Devils were forced to come from behind after Said Benrahma's deflected strike put the Hammers ahead. Cristiano Ronaldo responded with the equaliser to notch his fourth goal in three games since his return. The game appeared to be heading for a draw until former West Ham loanee Jesse Lingard curled home a fantastic strike to haunt David Moyes' men. However, Luke Shaw's handball offered a late chance for the home side to snatch a point from the penalty spot. Mark Noble entered the game from the bench to take the penalty, but was denied by David de Gea, who produced a brilliant save to earn his team the win.

Ronaldo has been extremely dangerous in the final third and could have added further goals for the Red Devils. West Ham have to find a way to limit his threat in the second half in order to maintain their unbeaten run.

Said Benrahma put the Hammers ahead when his strike from 20 yards was deflected past David de Gea by Raphael Varane. Ronaldo now has four goals in three games for the Red Devils since his return.
33' CHALLENGE AND SAVE! Ronaldo is played through on goal by a defence-splitting pass from McTominay. He takes a poor first touch and he allows Zouma to get back in to make a covering challenge. 24' SAVE! Pogba spreads the ball out wide to the left flank for Ronaldo. The Portuguese lines up a strike on his right foot, but he drills his effort straight at Fabianski.
23' West Ham are growing into the contest and are beginning to turn the pressure back on the visitors.

9' Shaw wins the ball for United and offloads to Fernandes in space. The Portuguese tries to thread the needle to release Greenwood in the West Ham box, but the pass just has too much pace for the forward to reach.
7' Pogba is not moving freely after receiving treatment. That will be a concern for the Red Devils.
5' Pogba requires treatment after colliding with Zouma in the middle of the park.
4' McTominay rises from the resulting corner from Shaw, but he glances his effort comfortably over the bar.
3' Coufal allows the ball to travel behind believing that West Ham will have a goal-kick. However, the referee points correctly for a corner. It could be a costly mistake.
1' We're under way at London Stadium.
There will be a minute of applause before kick-off in the memory of Jimmy Greaves.
West Ham have won two of their last six Premier League games against Man Utd (D1 L3), though they are winless in three against the Red Devils. The Hammers had won just one of their previous 19 against them in the competition (D5 L13).
United have made three changes to their side from their defeat to Young Boys last time out. McTominay returns from injury to start in front of the back four alongside Fred, wiith Van de Beek dropping to the bench. Varane returns in the heart of the defence to replace Lindelof. Sancho is withdrawn in the final third, which sees Greenwood restored to the starting line-up.
Moyes has made four changes to his side beat Zagreb during the week. Antonio is suspended after being dismissed against Southampton last time out. Vlasic shifts forward, while Bowen slots into the team in the final third. Lanzini makes way for Benrahma in the second attacking change. The other two alterations see Ogbonna and Coufal slot into the back four in place of Fredericks and Diop, who are both on the bench.

Manchester United were dealt their first defeat of the campaign, suffering a shock 2-1 upset at the hands of Young Boys in their Champions League opener. The Red Devils have been extremely impressive in the Premier League, winning three out of their four matches. The return of Cristiano Ronaldo has provided a spark, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be wary of a hangover from their first loss of the term. They cannot afford to take the Hammers lightly.
West Ham have made an unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign, winning two and drawing two of their opening four matches. The Hammers continued their impressive form with a strong performance during the week to overcome Dinamo Zagreb on the road in their opening Europa League contest. David Moyes' men are in prime form, although they will be tested this afternoon against the Red Devils, especially considering they're without Michail Antonio.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between West Ham United and Manchester United at London Stadium.
