Commentary

That's all for today though, goodbye!
Bayern now look all set to top Group B already after two impressive victories. For Spurs on the other hand, this result has consequences far beyond Champions League qualification. Morale will have been hit hard and the fans will be demanding an immediate reaction against Brighton on Saturday.
Well, the second half took a shocking turn! Bayern were fortunate to go in at half time 2-1 up, after two stunning efforts from Kimmich and Lewandowski overturned a smart Son strike. However, in the last 45 minutes the German side completely ripped through Spurs. Gnabry fired in a rapid 30-minute hattrick with a series of excellent finishes as Bayern plundered the left flank repeatedly. Lewandowski grabbed a second soon afterwards to make it 6-2, before Gnabry then hit his fourth goal - and the pick of the bunch - to add insult to injury. Tottenham's only consolation was a Kane penalty that briefly threatened a comeback on 61 minutes.
90' + 2' FULL TIME: Tottenham 2-7 Bayern
90' This has descended into a humiliating night for Spurs. It's especially surprising after a largely promising first half for the London club, but they've unravelled after a number of incredible Bayern moves in the second period.
S. Gnabry
Goal
Bayern München
88' GNABRY SCORES AGAIN! 7-2! This is getting ridiculous now! Bayern win the ball back from the restart and a sharp move makes its way to Gnabry 25 yards out and he exuberantly leathers a spinning effort into the far corner leaving Lloris helpless again! Bayern have been so clinical tonight!
C. Tolisso
Assist
Bayern München
88' Tolisso collects another assist and yet again it was a simple pass to find an attacker in space to apply a sharp finish.
Philippe Coutinho
Assist
Bayern München
87' Coutinho made that with an ingenious dinked pass and Lewandowksi was the perfect recipient to fire into the net.
R. Lewandowski
Goal
Bayern München
87' BAYERN SCORE AGAIN! 6-2! Spurs surrender possession in another awful position and Coutinho simply flicks the ball out towards Lewandowski who rifles another electric finish past Lloris!
Thiago Alcântara
Assist
Bayern München
84' It was a wonderfully inventive pass from Thiago to set that up but Aurier certainly helped with some poor positioning there. Any chance of a comeback looks to be extinguished now.
S. Gnabry
Goal
Bayern München
83' THREE FOR GNABRY! BAYERN MAKE IT 5-2! Thiago clips a delightful lofted pass over Aurier and Gnabry races in behind once again before rolling a composed finish beyond Lloris!
E. Lamela
H. Winks
Tottenham Hotspur
81' Winks is replaced by Lamela as Spurs attempt to inject a little energy into this last ten minutes.
79' Spurs are starting to tire a little in their pursuit of an unlikely draw now. Son wriggles past Kimmich down the left but checks back before misplacing a pass out of play.
77' Tottenham carefully build from the back with a period of patient possession, but eventually it runs to Eriksen on the edge of the box and he wastefully lashes a shot well over the bar.
76' Moura was the catalyst for that tremendous semi-final win over Ajax last season in the Champions for Spurs. However, his record at home in this competition is surprisingly poor: he's scored six goals in seven Champions League away appearances for the club, but he is yet to find the net in six home games.
74' Coutinho finds a little space in behind the Spurs midfield, but he's isolated and is forced to take a speculative shot that drifts wide from 25 yards.
Javi Martínez
J. Boateng
Bayern München
72' The injured Boateng is replaced by Martinez in the heart of the Bayern defence.
Lucas Moura
D. Alli
Tottenham Hotspur
71' Alli's replaced by Moura as Spurs search for another unlikely Champions League comeback.
I. Perišić
K. Coman
Bayern München
71' Coman makes way for Perisic in a like-for-like substitution on the right flank.
70' We have a small break in play as Boateng receives treatment for an injury and it looks like he won't be able to continue here.
68' Coman goes down under Rose's challenge in the area but the referee boldly refuses to award a penalty. There's no check with VAR either, and Rose will breathe a huge sigh of relief.
66' What a save from Neuer! Eriksen's first action is to bend a dipping effort from 25 yards and it looks destined to find the top corner but the Bayern goalkeeper somehow leaps to tip it just over the bar!
C. Eriksen
T. Ndombèlé
Tottenham Hotspur
64' Ndombele comes off for Eriksen as Spurs look to push on after getting a goal back.
62' That was the perfect response from Spurs! They could have easily caved in after the fourth goal and attempted to limit the damage, but now they've given themselves the slightest hope that they can recover here.
H. Kane
Penalty Goal
Tottenham Hotspur
61' KANE SCORES! 4-2! He rarely misses from the spot and this time the English striker confidently steps up and places the ball into the right-hand corner, just beyond Neuer's despairing dive!
60' Penalty to Spurs! Rose reacts first to a second ball from a corner and jinks past Coman who trips him! VAR makes a check but eventually, the penalty is confirmed and Kane prepares to step up!
57' Well, where do Spurs go from here! They were set up to really take the game to Bayern at half time, but suddenly they find themselves in a terrible situation after two brilliant finishes from Gnabry!
C. Tolisso
Assist
Bayern München
55' Tolisso did well to remain calm after receiving the ball in such an inviting position and selflessly play Gnabry in.
S. Gnabry
Goal
Bayern München
55' GNABRY SCORES AGAIN! 4-1! Spurs look completely shocked by the third goal and they immediately give the ball away 20 yards out. It results in a three on three and Tolisso astutely rolls Gnabry in behind down the left and he clinically fires across Lloris once more to put the German side into an almost unassailable lead!
B. Pavard
Assist
Bayern München
53' Pavard gave the ball to Gnabry on the halfway line and the winger did all the rest - a stunning goal!
S. Gnabry
Goal
Bayern München
53' WHAT A GOAL FROM GNABRY! 3-1! Gnabry zooms past Aurier down the right flank and advances all the way into the box before beating Alderweireld and smashing a low shot across a helpless Lloris and into the net! Spurs have a lot of work on to save this game now.
51' Alli makes an intelligent run in behind the Bayern backline, but his first touch pushes him slightly wide and the resulting shot from an angle is comfortably caught by Neuer.
50' Nine of Bayern's 11 shots have come from outside the box and while it's certainly a risky approach, it's paid off so far with their opening two goals.
48' Bayern make the first foray forward of the half and their quick move ends with Lewandowski having a shot blocked from 18 yards, before Tolisso lashes a wild volley wide.
H. Kane
Yellow Card
Tottenham Hotspur
46' Kane's booked after accidentally catching Tolisso with an elbow after an aerial challenge.
Thiago Alcântara
D. Alaba
Bayern München
46' Alaba is withdrawn and Thiago comes on to replace him. It looks as though this'll mean that Kimmich moves to right-back and Pavard will slide across to cover Alaba at left-back.
45' Spurs get us underway for the second half attacking from right to left.
Bayern will be looking to tighten this game up in the second half now. After all, Spurs' hopes on getting back into this one rest upon it remaining just as open in the next 45 minutes.
Well, Spurs started brightly in what was a chaotically exciting first half and they took the lead after Son lashed a firm finish beyond Neuer. However, the game remained open throughout the first 45 minutes and Kimmich got Bayern back on level terms with a wonderful swerving drive from distance. Then, just as the first period was drawing to a close, Lewandowski produced a smart finish on the edge of the box to give the away side the advantage!
45' + 1' HALF TIME: Tottenham 1-2 Bayern
S. Gnabry
Assist
Bayern München
45' Gnabry did brilliantly to keep the move flowing amidst the penalty appeal and lay the ball off to the razor-sharp Lewandowski!
R. Lewandowski
Goal
Bayern München
45' BAYERN TAKE THE LEAD! 2-1! Spurs switch off after Bayern howl for a penalty from a clumsy Aurier challenge on Tolisso, but Lewandowski remained alert and swiveled on the edge of the area before powering a crisp low shot into the bottom corner!
43' Lewandowski attempts to roll the resulting set-piece under the wall, but it deflects wide for a corner which Alderweireld nods clear.
T. Ndombèlé
Yellow Card
Tottenham Hotspur
42' Ndombele jumps dangerously into a challenge with Lewandowski and the referee wisely awards him a yellow card.
41' Gnabry gets into crossing position on the left flank, but he surprisingly elects to shoot and his fierce effort is parried out of harm's way by Lloris.
39' Aurier finds plenty of space down the right once more, but angles his cross well over the bar. Spurs are getting a lot of joy down both wings so far and continue to exploit this issue.
37' Alli goes down just inside the box under a clumsy challenge from Pavard and despite the home fans' cries for a penalty, the referee remains unmoved.
35' Kimmich almost plays Lewandowski through on goal with a deft chip, but Vertonghen rises to nod the danger away.
34' Coman drifts in from the right and tries a speculative shot from 30 yards that dribbles comfortably wide. Both teams look like they're tiring slightly with half time in sight.
32' Alaba loops in an inviting cross towards Lewandowski at the back post, but Vertonghen does just enough to put him off and force his header well wide.
30' Son's afforded too much space on the left once again and this time he cuts inside and attempts to shock Neuer with a drive at the near post, but it flashes narrowly wide.
28' Spurs win a free-kick in a promising area, but Kane steps up and floats a tame effort over the bar from the set-piece.
27' What a chance for Ndombele! Kane frees Aurier to gallop down the right wing and he cuts it backs elegantly for Ndombele who drives a shot unhindered from eight yards, but he hits it straight at Neuer and it flicks behind for a corner.
S. Gnabry
Yellow Card
Bayern München
25' Gnabry receives a booking for hauling Winks down after some smart defensive work from the Tottenham man.
23' Both teams have already had four shots on target each! They're cutting through each other's defences with ease and you'd be surprised if this one finished 1-1.
21' Coutinho's the latest to try his luck, as he attempts a swerving effort from 30 yards, but Lloris comfortably slides across to claim the shot.
19' Neither side have established any control in midfield and this fixture's descended into a brilliant end-to-end affair! You'd think that the first team to tighten up the spaces in between their midfield and defence will take charge now.
17' Big chance for Kane! This game's breathless right now and Kane's the latest beneficiary! He races onto a smart pass from Alli and rounds Neuer before Boateng spectacularly blocks his cushioned finish away for a corner!
J. Kimmich
Goal
Bayern München
15' BAYERN EQUALISE RIGHT AWAY! 1-1! The away side let their experience show there - they didn't panic after conceding early on. A careful passing move ends with Vertonghen hacking clear to Kimmich 25 yards out, where he shimmies past Sissoko before bending an unstoppable drive low into the corner past Lloris!
M. Sissoko
Assist
Tottenham Hotspur
12' Sissoko's been a core part of Tottenham's recent success in Europe and he contributed once again with a superb throughball to capitalise on Tolisso's mistake.
Son Heung-Min
Goal
Tottenham Hotspur
12' SPURS TAKE THE LEAD! 1-0! Alli forces a terrible error from Tolisso who surrenders possession to Sissoko 25 yards out and he rolls Son through on goal, where he lashes a low shot across Neuer and into the net! Son's certainly made up for his poor decision making earlier!
10' Ndombele manages to squeeze a perfect pass through to Son down the left flank but - with Kane open in the middle for a low cross - he opts to shoot from a tight angle and Neuer comfortably gathers.
8' It's been a lively start from both sides here, and it bodes well for the Bayern's chances at equalling a surprising record! They're looking to become just the second side after PSG in October 2017 to score two or more goals in six successive Champions League away group stage matches, since the competition changed to its current format in 2003-04.
6' Huge save from Neuer! A wonderful slide-rule pass from Winks sets Son free on goal, but Neuer rushes out to close the one-on-one down and blocks his fizzing shot away for a corner!
4' A daring Pavard pass now slices through Spurs' defence, but Coman's cutback to Lewandowski is brilliantly intercepted by Vertonghen.
3' Strong save from Lloris early on! Coman unleashes Gnabry in behind the Spurs defence with an incisive pass, before the former Arsenal winger beats Alderweireld and fires a fierce shot from the edge of the box that Lloris just about manages to palm to safety!
2' Spurs press hard and Kane immediately wins possession high up the pitch. He advances menacingly towards goal but his attempted pass through to Son is just overhit.
1' Bayern get us underway attacking from right to left.
The players are emerging from the tunnel here and kick off is just seconds away!
A competitive fixture between these two sides has been a long time in the making: Tottenham Hotspur last met Bayern during the 1983-84 UEFA Cup campaign, knocking them out 2-1 on aggregate on the way to winning the competition – the last trophy they’ve won in Europe.
Spurs make just the one change from their confidence-building victory over Southampton at the weekend – Eriksen makes way for Alli. Bayern, meanwhile, make two changes from their exciting 3-2 victory over Paderborn on Saturday: Alcantara is replaced by Tolisso, while Alaba returns in place of Hernandez.

Hello and welcome to this Champions League Group B fixture between Tottenham and Bayern Munich. The hosts enter this one on the back of a disappointing draw away at Olympiacos: they’ll be desperate for a win to solidify their chances of qualification – and to edge ahead of the German side at the top of the group. Bayern, meanwhile, kicked their European campaign off with a comfortable win against Red Star Belgrade, and another victory today would represent a major step towards the knockout stages already.
