Match Report: Tanzania 3-0 Uganda: Taifa Stars qualify for 2019 Afcon
On Sunday, Tanzania beat Uganda 3-0 in Dar es Salaam to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 1980

Tanzania has qualified for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after hammering Uganda at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

Taifa Stars needed to defeat the Cranes and hopes that Cape Verde beat or holds Lesotho to a draw in Praia. Their qualification was confirmed after the Blue Sharks held Likuena to a goalless draw, joining already-qualified Uganda at the Egypt showpiece from Group L.

Tanzania made a positive start to the encounter with their captain Mbwana Samatta linking up well up front with Simba FC's on-form man John Bosco.

Uganda goalkeeper Dennis Onyango conceded for the first time in the group matches when he was beaten by Simon Msuva's low shot from the right edge of the box to open the scoring in the 20th minute.

In the second half, Samatta - who was a livewire throughout the match - made a telling run into the box and was fouled for a penalty which was converted by Erasto Nyoni to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute.

Bosco summed up his evening with a fine effort to team up with Aggrey Moris who headed past Onyango for Tanzania's third in the 73rd minute.

The visitors should have drawn blood soon thereafter but Farouk Miya's cheeky back-heel failed to trouble Aishi Manula in the hosts' goals.

With the win and Lesotho's result, Emmanuel Amunike's men ended a 39-year absence from the continental spectacle.
