Sweden v United States Live Commentary, 20/06/2019

0 - 2
L. Horan (3)
J. Andersson (50 og)
Stade Océane

That's all from us tonight folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!
The United States will face Spain in the knockout stages, meanwhile Sweden will face Canada as the runners-up in Group F. In the other game tonight, Chile beat Thailand 2-0 but that wasn't enough for them to secure qualification.
USA make it three wins out of three, as they beat Sweden 2-0 thanks to a first half Horan strike and then a deflected shot from Heath flew into the back of the net just a few minutes after the restart, which went down as an own goal by Andersson. We had a lengthy VAR review on the goal, with Lloyd in an offside position as the cross came into the box, but it was allowed to stand. The rest of the second half was very scrappy, with not many chances to score, as Sweden struggled to push forward and USA dropped the pace of their game.
90' + 7' FULL-TIME: SWEDEN 0-2 USA
90' + 5' Not much happening at the moment, both teams will be keen for the final whistle now as neither side is pushing forward in search of a goal.
90' + 3' Free-kick to USA which they are going to whip into the box in search of a third goal. However, Heath's ball into the box is poor and Lindahl comfortably gathers.
90' + 1' There will be a minimum of SEVEN minutes added time played. That is probably due to the lengthy VAR delay we had after the second goal and then the stoppages due to injuries.
90' GREAT SAVE! Lloyd should make it 3-0 but Lindahl makes a superb save to deny her! Lloyd is played through on goal and she just has the keeper to beat, but she drills her shot straight at Lindahl, who stands firm and denies the veteran striker.
88' O'Hara is back on the pitch now for the US after a spell of the sidelines, she has a bloody nose at the moment.
S. Jakobsson
Yellow Card
86' Jakobsson is booked after a late challange on O'Hara, which caused the USA right-back to receive some treatment from the medical staff.
85' It's been a scrappy second half and it looks like Sweden are happy to finish the game 2-0, setting up a round of 16 game against Canada.
M. Pugh
M. Rapinoe
United States
83' Final USA substitution now, with Rapinoe heading off after a quiet second half and she has been replaced by Pugh.
82' O'Hara makes a sloppy pass at the back and it hands Sweden a corner after Naeher is unable to stop the ball from going out of play. However, the resulting corner flies straight out of play, dropping onto the roof of the net.
81' Chile are beating Thailand 2-0 in the other game in Group F, they need just one more goal now to clinch their place in the knockout stages.
L. Hurtig
K. Asllani
79' Sweden make their third and final substitution, with Asllani coming off and she has been replaced by Hurtig.
78' No chances for either side in the last five minutes, with the United States slowing the pace down and they seem to just be trying to see the game out at 2-0 now.
76' There is a cracking atmosphere inside the stadium, with supporters from both sides making their voices heard.
74' Stoppage in play as Bjorn is down on the pitch receiving treatment following the aerial clash with O'Hara. The US right-back doesn't get any of the ball and clatters into the back of her opponent, who looks to be in some discomfort.
72' Decent effort! Bjorn with a header in the box, she rises above O'Hara and powers a header towards goal but it lands on the top of the net.
70' CLOSE! Asllani whips a superb ball into the box from the free-kick, aiming for the far post but it's got slightly too much on it and none of her team-mates are able to get on the end of it. Naeher was beaten if anyone got a touch there.
69' Free-kick to Sweden in a dangerous position after Lloyd brings Asllani down just outside the box, down the left wing.
68' This is the sixth Women’s World Cup meeting between Sweden and USA; already the most played fixture in the history of the competition – each match has also come in the group stages.
66' Rolfo does very well down the left wing, she beats O'Hara and gets to the byline, whipping an excellent cross into the box that Naeher has to push out wide. The substitute has already made a positive impact since coming on.
H. Glas
C. Seger
64' Sweden respond by making a change of their own, with Seger replaced by Glas.
C. Press
R. Lavelle
United States
63' Another USA substitution now with Lavelle coming off the pitch and she has been replaced by Press.
61' The pace has dropped since the second US goal, as they look very comfortable and are just keeping the ball, making their opponents do all the running.
K. O'Hara
Yellow Card
United States
59' The first yellow card of the game is shown to O'Hara after her late crunching tackle on Rolfo.
F. Rolfö
O. Schough
57' Sweden make their first substitution of the game with Schough coming off and she is replaced by Rolfo.
54' Following her brace against Chile last time out, Lloyd became the first ever player to score in six consecutive appearances at the Women's World Cup; Lloyd has netted nine goals across those six games.
52' It took a long time for that goal to be awarded as VAR checked a possible offside, with Lloyd straying into an offside position as the ball came into the box and it forced Sembrant to go for it. However, after looking at the replay, the referee awards the goal.
J. Andersson
Own Goal
50' GOOOAAALLL! USA double their lead, it's 2-0! Heath with a great strike from a tight angle, which takes a big deflection off Andersson and beats Lindahl. The ball is whipped towards the far post by Rapinoe, flicked on by Sembrant as she tries to clear it, but it then falls straight into the path of Heath. It's gone down as an Andersson own goal.
48' Ilestedt is just off the pitch at the moment after taking a knock to the face, she is receiving some medical treatment on the sidelines.
46' The second half is underway!
C. Lloyd
A. Morgan
United States
46' USA have made a change ahead of the second half, with Morgan replaced by Lloyd, who also takes the captains armband.
As it stands, the United States will top Group F with three wins out of three matches, with Sweden finishing as runners-up. The other game in this group is currently 0-0 between Thailand and Chile.
The United States lead 1-0 at the break after Horan's goal from close range after just three minutes, the fastest goal of the tournament so far. It came after Rapinoe whipped a low corner into the box, Mewis flicked it on and Horan fired the ball into the back of the net from close range. Poor defending by Sweden, they missed a couple of opportunities to clear the danger before it reached Horan. The US have dominated the opening half and they could be further ahead. Sweden's best chance came through Asllani, but her shot was too close to Naeher, who made a good save.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: SWEDEN 0-1 USA
45' There will be a minimum of two minutes added time played.
43' It's all USA in these final few minutes of the first half, with Sweden unable to get in their opponents final third. However, they certainly improved as the half has gone up, but they look vulnerable at the back.
41' Just a few minutes remaining on the clock now, can the US extend their lead before the break? Or, can Sweden get an equaliser?
39' After losing their first three World Cup matches against USA, Sweden have managed to avoid defeat in each of their last two, winning 2-1 in 2011 and drawing 0-0 in 2015.
37' That's better from Sweden! Asllani with a good cross into the box, with a couple of players waiting in the penalty area. However, Dahlkemper reads it well and manages to block.
35' Rapinoe hasn't seen much of the ball since the early stages of the game, with much more play coming down the right wing via Heath and Lavelle on the overlap.
33' The pace of the game has dropped slightly in the last couple of minutes, with the US keeping the ball well and they seem happy to drop the tempo.
31' The United States are controlling every aspect of the game, winning the first and second balls, with Sweden unable to get out of their own half right now.
29' Lovely piece of skill from Heath! Andersson can't cope with her at the moment and Heath skips it through her legs, before getting into the box and having her cross blocked. The resulting corner comes to nothing.
27' We're almost at the half an hour mark now and it remains the United States who lead 1-0 thanks to Horan's early strike. Sweden are just dropping back and letting their opponents have the ball.
25' USA are unbeaten in their last 12 World Cup matches (W9 D3) since a 1-2 defeat against Sweden in 2011, winning each of their last seven - in the competition’s history, only Norway (10 straight wins between June 1995 and June 1999) have been on a longer winning run.
23' Almost! Lavelle does brilliantly to dribble all the way to the edge of the Sweden box, it looks like she is about to fire a shot at goal herself, but instead plays it through to Rapinoe, who drags her shot just wide of the post and into the sidenetting. However, the offside flag is up so it wouldn't have counted.
21' CHANCE! Asllani with a great opportunity to get Sweden back into the game! Lovely build-up by the Swedes, with Jakobsson finding space on the edge of the box and she lays it off to Asllani who was free just inside the area and she fires a low shot at goal. However, it's too close to Naeher, who makes a smart save.
20' Heath has been terrific for the US so far, linking up really well with O'Hara down the right wing and the Portland Thorns midfielder has been given far too much time and space to work her magic.
18' Sweden might gain a little bit of confidence from the Lavelle mistake, knowing that their opponents can make errors. However, so far it's been all USA.
16' Long range efforts at goal for both teams. First Mewis tries her luck but Lindahl gets down quickly to make the save. Lavelle then misplaces a pass in a dangerous area deep inside the US half and Blackstenius picks it up, but her shot is straight at Naeher.
14' The midfield trio of Horan, Mewis and Lavelle are dominating the game at the moment, really stretching Sweden and linking up play well between defence and attack.
12' Decent effort! The US win a corner which is headed away but only to Dunn on the edge of the box, who fires a wild shot towards goal on the volley, but it flies high over the crossbar.
10' Sweden are yet to really get on the ball and string a few passes together, with the US pressing them high and limiting the time and space they have on the ball.
8' This is the fourth goal the US has scored in the opening three minutes of a Women's World Cup match, and the first since Lloyd did so in the last World Cup against Japan.
6' The United States have started the game with great intensity, they are really up for this game and clearly want to put in a good performance to finish top of Group F.
4' There was a VAR check on the goal, with the officials just checking to see if Morgan was offside as the ball was flicked on by Mewis, as Morgan was stood right in front of the Sweden keeper. However after a lengthy check the goal is allowed to stand.
S. Mewis
United States
3' Mewis manages to flick the ball on at near post after Rapinoe's corner into the box, firing it straight into the path of Horan.
L. Horan
United States
3' GOOOAAALLL! What a start, USA lead 1-0! It comes from the first corner of the game which Rapinoe drills low towards the near post, a couple of players miss it, before Mewis flicks it on and it flies all the way to Horan who was unmarked in the box and she has the simple job of firing the ball home from a yard out.
3' Early US pressure here, they are keeping the ball well and Sweden have everyone back behind the ball defending at the moment. They've won an early corner as Rapinoe's cross is blocked.
1' We're underway!
The teams are out on the pitch and the anthems are underway, stay tuned for all of the match action!

They have reverted back to almost the same starting XI that beat Thailand in the opening game, with just Sauerbrunn replacing Ertz. It looks like Sweden have rested a few players as they've already secured qualification. Only Ilestedt remains in the Swedes defence and Anvegard is replaced in attack by Blackstenius.
