That's all from us, we'll see you for the next game. Until then though, goodbye!
With the Trophee des Champions wrapped up ahead of Ligue 1's big kick-off on August 5th, PSG have put a marker down that they'll once again be the team to beat, both domestically and in Europe too, they'll hope. A night to forget for Nantes, but with a campaign in the Europa League coming up, it could well be the start of a memorable season for La Maison Jaune.
Neymar's two goals both came from set pieces, and were his only shots, as he turned creator for large parts of the game with three key passes. He completed 35 passes in the final third, had seven touches in the box, and contested 11 duels, as PSG ran away with the game, and their first silverware this season. Samba.
PSG have their first trophy of the season well and truly wrapped up following a clinical victory in this game! Any attempt of a Nantes fightback was soon quashed by Ramos' cheeky back-heel that put PSG 3-0 up. Chance after chance followed as PSG peppered Les Canaris' goal, but it took Castelletto's moment of madness to grant PSG their fourth, converted by Neymar from the spot. A resounding victory, and PSG start 2022/23 as they mean to go on.
90' + 3' SAVED!!! Simon cuts inside again, but gets a shot away this time, and it's a thumping low effort which Donnarumma has to really stretch for to keep out!
90' + 1' We're into three minutes of added time, as PSG aim to see out the win.
90' WIDE!!! Kalimuendo picks up the ball down the right, and cuts inside two before flashing a shot just wide of Lafont's right post!
88' SAVED!!! Lafont bails his side out again, after a Neymar lob finds Messi. He looks to chip the keeper, but can't get it over his giant frame, and Lafont parries it skyward before claiming the high ball!
86' A drop of the shoulder sees Messi beat his man and find Bernat on the run, but the return ball to Messi is intercepted!
85' Simon cuts inside Mukiele and does well to find Blas, but he goes down under no pressure at all and Donnarumma will take the goal kick for PSG.
A. Kalimuendo
Pablo Sarabia
84' Sarabia is next off for PSG, and is replaced by Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga, who was on loan at Lens last season.
Penalty Goal
82' GOOOAALL!!! Neymar makes it four!!! He steps up slowly to take the penalty, and when he does eventually strike it, wrong-foots Lafont to slot it into the corner, putting a cruising PSG 4-0 up!
J. Castelletto
Red Card
81' HE'S OFF!!! The red card's out almost as soon as the penalty is given, and there can be no complaints from Castelletto, who is off!
81' PENALTY!!! The clearest penalty you will ever see is awarded, following a fast break from Paris. Sarabia, in space down the right, squares for Neymar, but he's dragged, spun and pulled to ground by Castelletto, who may as well start walking now!
80' Neymar is teed up in the box by Messi, but goes down under pressure from Pallois and Fabio, but the referee waves play on!
D. Appiah
78' Appiah also comes off, and Fabio da Silva takes his place down the left.
S. Corchia
E. Guessand
78' Guessand is withdrawn for Nantes, with Sebastien Corchia coming on for the striker.
N. Mukiele
A. Hakimi
78' Hakimi also comes off after an excellent stint down that right-hand side, and new signing Nordi Mukiele comes on to make his competitive debut for PSG, following his arrival from RB Leipzig.
L. Paredes
M. Verratti
78' A raft of changes for PSG the first of which sees Verratti come off for Leandro Paredes.
76' Hakimi takes on Appiah and beats him before squaring for Messi, but Pallois steps it to hoof it clear and the ball goes over the sideline.
S. Moutoussamy
Yellow Card
75' Moutoussamy and Danilo tussle for the ball in midfield, and the PSG substitute is eventually hacked down, with Moutoussamy shown a deserved yellow card.
73' PSG are coasting to victory now, and look well secure with their three-goal lead. Nantes have had spells, as they did in the first half, but they've been understandably unable to break through the Parisiens' stacked side.
72' This will be the tenth successive edition of the Trophee des Champions to be decided in normal time, not being settled on penalties since 2012, when Lyon beat Montpellier 4-2 in the shoot-out after a 2-2 draw.
70' Blas again looks to make something happen by releasing Guessand, but his throughball is too close to Kimpembe and PSG win possession back.
Danilo Pereira
68' Vitinho also comes off, and is replaced in midfield by his international Portugal team-mate Danilo Pereira.
Juan Bernat
Nuno Mendes
68' Mendes is the first PSG player withdrawn, as the left-back is replaced by Juan Bernat.
66' Sissoko and Mendes accidentally collide on the far touchline, and both are down receiving treatment after the referee brings play to a halt.
S. Moutoussamy
M. Coco
64' Coco is also withdrawn, with Samuel Moutoussamy taking his place out wide.
Mostafa Mohamed
63' Nantes make their first changes, the first seeng Chirivella come off for Mostafa Mohamed.
61' Guessand drives through midfield with aplomb, but is crowded out on the edge of the box. He spreads it wide to Coco, who attempts to cross back into the area, but a Verratti block takes it behind for a corner.
59' PSG have dominated the first 15 minutes of this half, managing four shots already, as well as winning a greater rate of their duels (58.8 per cent to 54.2 per cent in the first half), and maintaining their high possession of 63.3 per cent.
Sergio Ramos
57' GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! It's three!!!! The corner is cleared but Paris come back once more, and Verratti's ball forward causes all sorts of problems. Messi's half-volley is saved by Lafont, but in the ensuing scramble, Ramos pops up to back-heel the ball into the corner to make it 3-0 to PSG!! Cheeky from the veteran defender, and that could well be game over now!
56' A series of flicks and tricks from the front three sees Sarabia tee up Messi in space, but his attempted return ball is blocked behind for a PSG corner.
54' Verratti thunders into Blas two-footed, with the rash challenge awarding Nantes a wide free-kick, but seeing no further action from the referee.
53' BLOCKED!!! A bouncing ball is latched onto by Kimpembe, who's 25-yard effort is blocked. It drops to Messi, but he's crowded out on the edge of the box and another deflection takes the ball out of play!
52' Hakimi surges up the right-hand touchline to get to a loose ball, but his first-time cross towards Neymar doesn't stick and Pallois clears it out for a PSG throw.
50' OVER!!! Simon drifts wide to pull PSG's defence out and crosses back into the box. Guessand gets his head to it, but can't direct the effort on target as it flies over the bar!
49' PSG counter at speed as Messi glides forward before finding Neymar, but the Brazilian's lay-off for Verratti is a poor one and Nantes are able to scrappily win back possession.
48' Sissoko, facing his own goal, is knocked to the ground by Neymar, and the PSG goalscorer concedes a cheap free-kick.
46' Nantes kick off, and can they spark a comeback early in the second 45 minutes? We're back underway.
The two sides head back out onto the pitch here in Tel Aviv, and can PSG build on their 2-0 lead in the second half?
Messi bagged the opener for PSG, and both of his first-half efforts were on target. He also completed three of three dribbles, had seven final third entries, and completed 16 passes in and around the box, including a successful cross. Magician.
That sublime Neymar goal sends PSG into half-time with a two-goal lead, following Messi's equally sublime finish earlier in the game. The Parisiens deserve to be ahead and have had a mammoth of chances, but Nantes keep popping up in dangerous areas too, and could well have at least one goal for themselves, in what's been a very entertaining first 45 minutes!
45' + 5' GOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!! What a strike!!! Neymar steps up as coolly as you like, slotting the free-kick perfectly into the top corner, beating both the wall and Lafont to make it 2-0 to PSG!!! What a finish that was from the Brazilian!
45' + 3' Sissoko looks to have won the ball well, but smashes through Neymar to do so, and so the new Nantes midfielder is penalised with PSG set to take a free-kick that is definitely within both Messi and Neymar's range.
45' + 2' Neymar carries the ball deep into midfield once again but Castelletto is all over him, and the two have a brief coming together following a pull on Neymar's shirt, but luckily the referee intervenes!
45' + 1' We're into three minutes of added time to close out the first half.
44' SAVED!!! Pallois can't clear the danger properly, and is robbed by Messi. He skips past two other challenges before looking to beat Lafont low, but the Nantes keeper gets down to parry his effort away!
42' PSG have lost two of their last three games against Nantes in all competitions; as many as they had in their previous 31.
41' WIDE!!! What a chance for Nantes! Blas drifts across the box before shooting forward for the ball and beating Marquinhos. He cuts it back from the byline to Guessand, but he can only shoot a yard wide of the post!!
40' WIDE!!! Hakimi cuts inside to find Messi, who dinks a pass through to Neymar. On the turn, he fires a half-volley with his left foot, that beats Lafont before bouncing millimetres wide of the post!
M. Coco
Yellow Card
38' Coco is well beaten to the ball by Mendes on the fly, and he chops down the PSG left-back to concede a free-kick and a yellow card.
37' Nantes look to work the ball wide, but Appiah gets his footing all wrong and knocks the ball out over the sideline.
35' Paris have won the Trophee des Champions ten times, a competition record. They have won eight of the last nine editions, failing to do so only last season in a 1-0 loss to Lille, which was also played in Tel-Aviv.
33' Verratti brings the ball inside and looks to pick a pass, but Guessand slides in and catches him late to concede a free-kick.
32' More good play from PSG as they come forward in numbers. Messi tees up Hakimi, who flashes the ball across goal, but again no one is there and another opportunity ceases!
30' CHANCE!!! Neymar strides forward again with the defence standing off him. He picks out Mendes to his left, who tees the ball across goal, but Messi can't get to it and Nantes survive!
28' Sarabia is shunted to the floor by Pallois, and PSG will have a free-kick inside their own half. It's been a rather stop-start affair since the Messi opener.
26' The teams head for the sideline for a momentary cooling break in the Israel heat, and that'll hopefully give Nantes a chance to recharge as they look for an equaliser sooner rather than later.
24' Messi has now been involved in a goal in each of his three games against Nantes for PSG – a goal in November 2021 and an assist in February 2022, and now the opener in this match.
L. Messi
22' GOOOOAAAALLLL!!!! PSG take the lead!!! Neymar drops deep into midfield to receive the ball, and puts a delightful throughball forward to Messi. A nick off Pallois takes it into his path, and the Argentine does he rest; beating the defence before rounding the keeper and putting the ball into an empty net, and that vintage Messi goal makes it 1-0 to PSG!
21' Kimpembe momentarily goes down injured, but recovers for when his team needs him, heading three successive Nantes crosses away from the danger area.
19' SAVED!!! Nantes move the ball forward well, and it comes to Blas on the edge of the box. He hits a curling effort first time, that Donnarumma has to really dive for to tip around the outside of the post!!
18' WIDE!!! Blas hoofs a brilliant cross into the area, and Coco scuffs his volley. It falls to Simon though, and he rolls a low shot just inches wide of the post!
Yellow Card
16' A poor touch from Vitinha sees him lose the ball to Girotto. The Paris midfielder lunges in to get it back, but catches the Nantes defender and is penalised, being shown a yellow card by the referee.
14' WHAT A SAVE!!! Messi's corner finds Kimpembe at the back post, who heads back across goal to Marquinhos. His header looks to be heading into an open net, but Lafont dives across at the speed of light to tap it away from the underside of the bar! What a stop from the goalkeeper there!
13' Blas glides forward and opens up space before trying his luck from 30 yards. It's a good effort too, which dips slightly before heading over the bar, and PSG will have a goal kick.
12' Mendes does superbly to turn and sprint his way out of trouble, but he's hauled down on halfway by Appiah before he can make any further progress.
11' Paris have scored in each of their last 26 games against Nantes in all competitions, totalling 62 overall. They last failed to score against them in February 2006, drawing 0-0 away in Ligue 1.
9' Vitinha crosses into the six-yard box, where Neymar glances an effort across the face of goal. Mendes tries to get to the ball at the back post, but it's cleared by Nantes before he can connect.
7' OVER!!! Nice work again from PSG as Hakimi's burst forward sparks a counter-attack. They keep possession well, and Verratti chips over the top to Sarabia, but he can't keep his volley down and skies it over the bar from just yards out!
5' SAVED!!! PSG flood forward in numbers as Messi tees up Vitinha in the box. He squares for Hakimi, who's low first-time drive is parried away by Lafont! Neymar looks to get to the rebound, but it's cleared by Les Canaris!
3' Messi attempts to find Mendes on the run, but Castelletto cuts it out and Verratti can't keep hold of the ball.
3' Paris and Nantes have already met in the Trophee des Champions - the 1995 edition played in January 1996. They drew 2-2, but PSG won the trophy after a 6-5 victory in a penalty shoot-out.
1' Messi kicks off for PSG, and we're off and running in Tel Aviv!
The sides head out onto the pitch, and we're almost ready for kick-off at the Bloomfield Stadium!
Ludovic Blas’s penalty was the difference for Nantes in that final against Nice, and the Canaris captain starts in a false nine role for this match, hoping he and his team-mates can pick up where they left off last season.
New PSG coach Christophe Galtier, who was in charge of the Nice team who lost the Coupe de France final to Nantes, names a strong side for his first competitive match. The XI features both Messi and Neymar up front, however Kylian Mbappe is not in the squad, with Pablo Sarabia rounding off the front three. The Spaniard is back in the squad after spending last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon.
