Commentary

Thanks for joining us for this live coverage of the 3-3 draw between Newcastle and Brentford.
Despite the point, Newcastle drop to the bottom of the table due to results elsewhere. They will continue their hunt for their first win of the season as they travel to Arsenal next. For the visitors, they remain 14th and will look for their first win in six games against Everton at home.
What a game! It finishes 3-3 after an absolute thriller. It was the hosts who got themselves ahead early, as Lascelles rose highest from a corner to send a header into the back of the net. The visitors hit back instantly though, as Toney fired home from inside the area as Darlow didn't cover himself in glory. They then got themselves in front in the 31st minute as Canos expertly picked out Henry at the back post and his fellow wing-back couldn't miss with his header. The Magpies did get themselves level before the break though, as Joelinton smashed a loose ball into the back of the net. The visitors went in front again though as Onyeka's effort from just inside the area looked to be going wide until Lascelles got a foot to it, sending it past his own goalkeeper. His side were level soon after however, as Saint-Maximin volleyed home from an excellent Fraser cross to make it 3-3. Both sides tried for a winner but ultimately couldn't find one, and the game finishes level.

C. Nørgaard
Yellow Card
Brentford
83' Norgaard goes in the book for trying to hack down Saint-Maximin during that run.
82' Another excellent run by Saint-Maximin creates space for him to lay it right to Joelinton. The Brazilian cuts onto his left foot but loses his footing just as he is about to fire at goal and the chance is gone.
C. Goode
M. Rasmussen
Brentford
80' Rasmussen is replaced by Goode.
78' Mbeumo sends an ambitious volley at goal from 30 yards out but it flies well over Fernandez's net.

71' Canos shoots from the wide free-kick but fires it well over.
69' Toney does superbly to win a free-kick high up the pitch to relieve some of the pressure.
67' The hosts are nearly level again! Saint-Maximin shows a great turn of pace to get to the byline and then sends a low cross towards the middle of the box. It's awkward for Jansson, who manages to get a toe to it which thankfully for him Fernandez collects. That could've been really dangerous.
65' A long throw is sent into the Brentford box, but after a brief moment of panic they scramble it clear.
63' Will Newcastle have to wait even longer for their first win of the season?
J. Lascelles
Own Goal
Newcastle United
61' It's 3-2 to the visitors! Onyeka gets the ball in the box and shoots for the far corner. His effort looks to be going wide, but then takes a deflection off Lascelles and nestles into the back of the net. It's a huge slice of luck for the visitors to put them in front.
60' So close for the hosts! Saint-Maximin gets the ball off Willock to the left of the box and tries to curl a shot towards the far corner, but unfortunately for him his effort goes just wide.
F. Onyeka

57' Ritchie finds space to cross but his delivery is too close to Fernandez and the Spanish keeper collects it.
55' Murphy then wins a corner up the other end as Ghoddos blocks his cross. Clark gets up well to win the header, but his effort doesn't have the power to trouble Fernandez.
53' Mbeumo wins a corner as Lascelles smashes his corner behind. However after it pings around in the box momentarily, Newcastle win a free-kick.
51' This is the fourth game in a row that Frank's men have conceded at least two goals.
49' Jansson is back up and we are underway once more.
48' Jansson is down receiving treatment after that challenge by Wilson.
C. Wilson
Yellow Card
Newcastle United
46' Wilson is booked for a very late tackle on Jansson.
46' The Bees get us back underway for the second period.
That exciting first half sets us up for an intriguing second period as both teams will look to get themselves in front once more. These are two teams on a poor run of form but will fancy picking up some points here.
What a first half! We go to the break with the scoreline 2-2 as both sides have taken the lead and then lost it. The hosts were the first to get their noses in front, as Lascelles sent a superb header into the back of the net from a Ritchie corner. Their lead lasted only a minute though, as Toney was played in by Canos before the striker fired home past Darlow. The visitors then took the lead on 31 minutes as Canos sent a perfect cross to the back post to set up Henry to head into the back of the net. The hosts did manage to equalise before half-time though, as Joelinton smashed past Fernandez in the Brentford goal to level things up.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: NEWCASTLE 2-2 BRENTFORD
45' + 2' Ritchie swings a free-kick over and Joelinton manages to get on the end of it, but his header loops towards Fernandez's goal and the keeper easily collects it.
45' There will be three minutes of additional time at the end of this first half.
44' Toney blocks off the line! Clark heads a free-kick back across goal and Murphy gets on the end of it. He shoots at goal, but the Brentford striker manages to scramble it away from goal. Saint-Maximin then sends an effort from distance flying over.

39' Joelinton makes it 2-2!!! A Saint-Maximin shot is blocked straight to Joelinton. The Brazilian forward takes his time before lashing an effort at goal, which Fernandez couldn't get to and the hosts are back level.
37' Toney sends a smart half-volley at goal but Darlow is equal to it.
35' As a Newcastle player Toney made only two Premier League appearances, both coming in the 2015/16 campaign.
33' Murphy tries to curl a left-footed effort into the far corner but sends it well wide.
Sergi Canós

30' Wilson shoots at goal, but his low effort is comfortably dealt with by Fernandez.
28' The hosts have not been able to keep a clean sheet in any of their previous 11 games in the league this season.
26' Darlow tips an Mbeumo cross away from goal but straight to Toney, however Schar does really well to get in front of Toney's effort.
25' Ghoddos curls a free-kick towards the back post but Pinnock can't get his effort back across goal and it flies over.
23' The last two teams to be without a win in the Premier League both got their first win against Brentford, first Burnley and then Norwich.
21' Saint-Maximin cuts in from the left and creates the space to shoot, but can only send a tame effort straight at Fernandez. A player of his quality should probably have done better there.
19' Brentford have a goal disallowed! Mbeumo drives towards the area and digs out an effort towards the far corner. It pings off the post but Toney slides and puts it in the back of the net, but the former Newcastle man was offside and it won't count.
17' The Bees have lost their last five away games against Newcastle, with their only ever win at St. James' Park coming in 1934.
15' Fernandez does really well to come and collect a Ritchie free-kick from the left.
13' Saint-Maximin wins his header in the box but can only head wide to the right of Fernandez's goal.
Sergi Canós
Assist
Brentford
11' Canos laid it off for Toney in the area to fire home on the right of the box.
I. Toney
Goal
Brentford
11' And just like that, Brentford are level!!! Toney scores against his former team as he sends a low effort straight at Darlow, going through the keeper's legs. It's a save he really should make, yet he lets it go into the back of the net. It's really poor goalkeeping but the visitors won't care, and it's 1-1.
M. Ritchie
Assist
Newcastle United
10' Ritchie sent the corner in from the right for Lascelles to head home. It was a good delivery and allowed Lascelles to jump higher than his opponents.

7' This is the first ever meeting between these sides in the top flight.
5' Canos gets the ball in the box but can only send his effort wide. He probably could've taken a touch there but opted to take it first time.
3' Wilson has an early headed chance go begging as Joelinton swung a cross in from the right.
1' The referee blows the whistle and we are underway.
The two teams make their way onto the pitch.
Visiting boss Thomas Frank opts to go with two alterations as Rasmussen and Ghoddos start while Mathias Jorgensen and Mathias Jensen completely miss out.
