Milan try to push forward on one last attack but there isn't time to do so, and the referee blows his whistle for the final time just as Honda is about to send another cross into the Udinese penalty area. The difference between the hosts in the first and second half was both startling and, from a Rossoneri point of view, worrying, as the intensity, flair and belief that they lacked in the opening stages of the game was suddenly rediscovered after the break. From then onwards they looked excellent whenever pushing forward - which they did almost constantly - but in the end they just didn't have enough in the tank to beat a determined and well-organised Udinese back line.
FULL-TIME: MILAN 1-1 UDINESE
Fantastic save by Karnezis! The ball bounces around the Udinese box, with nobody able to get a shot away, but it eventually bounces out to the edge of the penalty area. Montolivo is in acres of space and decides to unleash a rocket of a strike, but the Greek goalkeeper does wonderfully well to parry away the fiercely-struck effort with an excellent stop. That might well have saved his side a valuable point!
Balotelli goes down inside the penalty area, but the decision goes the other way! Honda curls yet another excellent cross into a brilliant position inside the Udinese penalty area, and the striker immediately drops to the floor after wrestling with Danilo. The referee quickly blows his whistle and the Milan fans all believe that he'll award them a late penalty, but instead he signals for a free-kick for the visitors.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be four minutes of added time.
Poor play by Montolivo! Milan patiently move the ball around deep inside the Udinese half of the pitch as they try to find a way through the determined and well-organised Udinese back line, but the captain ends up sending a poor pass well away from a teammate and out for a throw-in on the left wing, much to the frustration of the home fans.
Milan come back once again before Honda sends another dangerous cross into the middle of the penalty area, where a clump of red and black shirts are waiting, but Wague is just about able to get a head on the ball to stop it from finding Balotelli on the edge of the six-yard box. His clearance can only find Boateng, however, but the Ghanaian ends up firing his long-range shot a few yards wide of the far post.
Bacca darts into the right-hand side of the Udinese box before firing a low cross off Danilo and out for a corner. They take it short before Abate swings a deep cross into the middle of the penalty area, but the Colombian striker is unable to make decent contact with the ball and instead sends it looping up into the air before Karnezis eventually deals with the danger.
It's all Milan at the moment as they continue to swarm into the Udinese half of the pitch. They look absolutely determined to find a second goal that would surely result in a victory, but the visitors, who are all camped deep inside their own half, are just about managing to hold on to what would be a thoroughly well-deserved point.
Bertolacci hits the crossbar! Bacca muscles his way into the Udinese penalty area before unleashing a low strike, but Widmer does well to throw his body in front of the effort to stop it from finding the back of the net. However, the ball rolls out to the aforementioned midfielder, who cuts to the right and fires a rocket of a shot that hits the woodwork before bouncing onto the line, where Karnezis is just about able to collect the ball before it rolls into the goal. What a chance that was for Milan to go in front!
Once again, Montolivo finds himself in a great position on the edge of the penalty area, but he decides to try and pass to a teammate instead of shooting. Groans ring around the stadium as he does so, indicating what the home fans think about the captain's reluctance to have a go, particularly at this late stage of the game.

Balotelli breaks forward on an excellent run after the Milan defence do well to deal with a half-hearted Udinese attack, but just as he's about to penetrate the visitors' penalty area he's cynically fouled by Edenilson, who receives a yellow card. The former Manchester City striker shoots from the set-piece once again, but this time his low shot is poorly hit and flies a few yards wide of the near post.
Good save by Karnezis! Guilherme commits a clumsy foul just outside of the Udinese penalty area, resulting in a free-kick for Milan in a very dangerous position. After spending some time eyeing up his target, Balotelli steps up and unleashes a thumping low strike that flies under the wall in front of him before being well stopped at the far post by the Greek goalkeeper.

And now Bacca goes close! Once again it's Honda who shows great skill to get down the right flank before sending a brilliant cross into the middle of the penalty area, but the Colombian striker is unable to send his header towards goal and instead fires it over the top of the crossbar and onto the roof of the net.
Almost a great chance for Boateng! Honda, who has looked far better during the second half, charges down the right wing on a marauding run before cutting inside and trying to pick out the aforementioned Ghanaian, but it's sent just a yard or so in front of the substitute and, as a result, he's unable to make contact with the ball. That was a big let off for Udinese!
Edenilson does well to get himself into a good position down the right wing before whipping a deep cross into the Milan box, but it's completely overhit and fails to find a black and white shirt. His manager won't be at all happy with that attempted pass, as Duvan Zapata, Thereau and Kuzmanovic were all in good positions in front of goal.
Abate twists and turns on the right-hand side of the Udinese penalty area before skipping past Armero with ease. He then heads into the box and tries to take on Felipe, but the Brazilian stands tall and is just about able to dispossess the right-back before he can get a shot away.
So close from Bacca! Milan break forward on a quick attack down the left wing that results in a corner. It's swung into the heart of the Udinese penalty area, where it finds the Colombian striker, but his headed effort ends up flying agonisingly wide of the far post. Karnezis was rooted to the spot and had been easily beaten by that great effort!
Udinese win themselves a free-kick deep down the right flank, and it's swung into a dangerous area near to the far post. Kuzmanovic reaches it well before sending his headed effort off the back of Wague, which sends the ball flying safely into the hands of Donnarumma in the middle of the Milan goal.
D. Zapata
Ryder Matos
Udinese
Udinese have made another substitution, with Duvan Zapata coming on to replace Matos.
It's been a difficult 20 minutes for Udinese, who have barely been able to break out of their own half of the pitch after Lodi's chance on goal early on. However, they are now looking far more bright on the ball, and Milan have decided to sit slightly deeper as they look to keep the revitalised visitors at bay.

Milan have made their second change of the afternoon, with Niang making way for Boateng.

Bertolacci bursts through the middle of the pitch and towards the Udinese box on a marauding run, but it's brought to a painful end by Lodi, who is unable to keep up with the Milan midfielder and ends up cynically tripping him over, resulting in a yellow card.
Twice in as many minutes Honda is sent crashing to the ground by Armero, but both times the referee waves away the Japan international's protests. Fierce battles between those two players look set to continue as Milan try to punish Udinese down the right flank.
Almost an own-goal by Wague! Niang flies down the left wing on a great run before firing a dangerous cross towards the near post, where the aforementioned defender gets a foot on the ball and almost sends it bouncing into the bottom left-hand corner of the net. It doesn't, however, and instead goes out for a corner, which the Milan goalscorer wastes by sending into the side-netting.
What a fantastic save by Karnezis! Milan win themselves a free-kick midway inside the Udinese half of the pitch, and it's flung right into the heart of the penalty area. Balotelli rises high and meets the ball well before nodding it down to Bacca, who is completely unmarked in front of goal, but his bullet header from close-range is somehow stopped by the Greek goalkeeper, who does wonderfully well to keep the scoreline even.
Antonelli goes down inside the penalty area, but nothing is given! The left-back flies into the box to latch onto a cut-back from Bacca, but just as he makes contact with the ball he's seemingly shoved over by Agyemang-Badu. He immediately screams for a penalty but the referee quickly shakes his head and waves play on.
Milan have looked far better over the past seven minutes than they did in the entirety of the first half. They lacked any sort of intensity before the break, but the introduction of Balotelli has allowed Niang to permanently stay out on the left, where he is finding far more joy and able to influence the game in a positive way.
Another good chance for Milan! Honda is left in too much space on the right wing, allowing him to control the ball before trying to pick out Balotelli with a curling cross. It almost finds the head of the striker but at the vital moment Wague throws his body in front of the pass to stop it from doing so.

Milan
GOAL! Milan have equalised! Udinese are presented with a great opportunity to score after good play by Matos inside the penalty area, but Lodi ends up sending his close-range strike straight into the body of Donnarumma. The hosts then break away on a blisteringly quick counter-attack before Bacca tees up Niang with a beautifully weighted through-ball, and the Frenchman finishes off a great move with a well-placed low shot that flies under Karnezis and into the back of the net.

Early chance for Balotelli! Lodi is caught sleeping on the ball just outside of the Udinese penalty area, allowing Milan to quickly break forward on a counter-attack. Bacca charges towards the edge of the box before teeing up Montolivo, who, despite being in a great position to shoot, moves the ball over to the former Manchester City striker. He takes a quick touch before unleashing a curling strike that's slightly overhit and, as a result, loops several yards wide of the goal.
M. Balotelli
J. Kucka
Milan
Milan have decided to make one substitution during the half-time break, with Kucka, who had a disappointing first half, making way for Balotelli.
And we're underway once again!
The two teams are making their way back out onto the pitch ahead of the start of the second half.
Boos ring around the stadium as the two teams make their way off the pitch, and you can be sure that they're not coming from the away fans. Udinese have looked the better of the two sides thus far and fully deserve their lead against a Milan team that are continually struggling whenever they're able to push forward. Niang and Bacca have found it largely difficult to get into the game, whilst only Antonelli seems to be willing to show the required fight in front of goal. As a result, Stefano Colantuono will be thoroughly pleased with how things have gone so far, whilst Sinisa Mihajlovic will be well aware that there's a lot of work to do if the hosts are going to continue their good run with a third consecutive league victory.
HALF-TIME: MILAN 0-1 UDINESE
Milan are constantly getting themselves into good positions deep inside the Udinese half of the pitch but are failing to turn their possession into chances on goal. This time it's Kucka who is poor on the ball, as he darts down the left wing and cuts inside before sending an awful attempted cross over the top of the crossbar and out for a goal-kick.
Chance for Montolivo! Kucka twists and turns on the edge of the Udinese box as he eyes up a shot, but he spends far too long on the ball and is eventually dispossessed by Agyemang-Badu. The Ghanaian's poked clearance can only find the Milan captain, but he ends up firing his 20-yard strike straight into the hands of Karnezis, who nonetheless does well to hold on to the fierce effort.
After spending the past 10 minutes firmly on the back foot, Matos takes the Milan defence by surprise by bursting down the left wing on a determined run. He does well to beat Montolivo before cutting inside and taking on Abate, but the Brazilian's final touch is terrible and sends the ball rolling harmlessly out of play for a goal-kick before he can get a shot away.
Antonelli again! The left-back breaks through the Udinese back line and receives the ball near the byline before cutting a lovely pass back towards the penalty spot, but there's nobody there to meet it and Lodi is eventually able to clear the danger.
Antonelli is thoroughly enjoying himself down the left flank, and once again he gets forward and into a dangerous position after easily beating two Udinese players. He then squares up to Wague and tries to beat the Malian defender, but the centre-back does well to force him into firing an attempted cross out of play for a goal-kick.
R. Montolivo
Yellow Card
Milan
After doing well to deal with the danger, Udinese try to break away quickly through Thereau, but the striker's marauding run is brought to a sudden and painful end by Montolivo, who cynically trips the Frenchman to the ground and earns himself a yellow card as a result.
What an interception by Wague! Bacca and Montolivo link up well on the right-hand side of the Udinese box before the latter cuts a lovely pass back towards Niang, but just as the Frenchman is about to shoot the Malian centre-back dives in front of the ball at the vital moment to stop it from finding the striker.
Bacca scores, but he's offside! Milan earn themselves a corner after a low cross is thumped out of play by Armero, and it's flung towards the edge of the six-yard box, where it finds Antontelli. The defender rises high and nods the ball onto the Colombian striker, who is completely unmarked in front of goal, but just as he fires a strike into the back of the net from close range the linesman's flag is raised, bringing an end to his celebrations.
Chance for Matos! Lodi picks up the ball in the middle of the pitch and quickly spins before sending a lovely lofted pass over the top of the Milan defence and into the path of the Brazilian. He times his run well to beat Antontelli but his first touch is poor, allowing the left-back to dispossess the striker before clearing the danger fully.
It's all Milan at the moment as ball after ball is flung into the Udinese penalty area, but the visitors are doing well to deal with everything that is being thrown at them. Antonelli and Bacca have looked particularly bright over the past few minutes, but each time they're able to get on the ball they're finding themselves being quickly closed down by a plethora of black and white shirts.
E. Agyemang-Badu
Yellow Card
Udinese
Adyemang-Badu flies into Antonelli and brings the left-back crashing to the ground with a crunching sliding challenge, but the referee allows play to go on as Niang is in possession. The striker charges into the left-hand side of the Udinese box before trying to shoot, but Wague does wonderfully well to throw his body in front of the Frenchman to stop him from doing so. The referee then eventually turns round and shows the aforementioned Ghanaian midfielder the first yellow card of the game.
Milan initially move the ball around well as they try to break their way through the middle of the pitch, but Niang brings a promising attack to a disappointing end with a poor touch that gifts possession back to Udinese on the edge of their own penalty area.
Antonelli cuts inside from the left wing and is immediately pushed to the ground by Felipe, who clumsily gives away a free-kick dangerously close to the edge of the Udinese penalty area. Niang takes his time eyeing up his target before unleashing a curling shot, but his strike is underhit and fails to beat the wall of black and white shirts camped in front of him.
Milan are finally able to string together a series of good passes in the middle of the pitch before Montolivo slides a lovely through-ball into the path of Bacca, but the Colombian's run forward is clumsily mistimed and, as a result, the linesman's flag is quickly raised for offside. The striker then kicks the ball away in anger, but, despite a few protests from several Udinese players, the referee doesn't show him a yellow card.
The home fans are growing increasingly impatient with what they're seeing at the moment. Udinese are firmly on the front foot and certainly look the better of the two sides, as every time Milan push forward a lack of communication between their front line is stopping them from turning their possession into chances on goal.
P. Armero
Goal
Udinese
GOAL! Udinese have taken the lead! They break down the right wing before Edenilson cuts a lovely pass back to Agyemang-Badu. The midfielder then spins and tees up Matos, but the Brazilian's thumping strike is pushed away by a great save from Donnarumma. The youngster then denies Kuzmanovic's follow-up header with an even better diving stop, but Armero is there to tap the ball into the back of the net from close range after the sleeping Milan defence failed to pick him up.
Chance for Matos! Udinese break forward on a quick counter-break and swarm into the Milan half of the pitch. The Brazilian picks up the ball just outside of the penalty area and immediately fires a low shot towards goal, but Donnarumma does well to stop it from finding the back of the net.
Great defending by Danilo! Udinese give away possession cheaply down the left wing, allowing Bacca to pick up the ball before quickly powering forward. He charges into the right-hand side of the box before battling against the aforementioned centre-back, who stands tall and directs the Colombian away from the goal before eventually clearing the danger.
Niang and Edenilson battle for the ball down the left wing before the Brazilian pokes it out of play for a corner. The French forward steps up and curls a wonderful cross towards the near post, but Felipe is just about able to get a head in the way to stop the ball from finding Antonelli, who was waiting in a very dangerous position in front of goal.
Udinese patiently move the ball around well inside their own half of the pitch before Armero sends a well-weighted pass down the left flank and into the path of Matos. The striker drifts out wide to reach the ball but is unable to control it fully, which forces him into knocking it out for a throw-in near the corner flag.
It's raining very heavily in Milan, and that is already proving to make life difficult for both sides as they battle hard for possession in the middle of the pitch. The tricky conditions are no doubt going to play an important role today.
A poor foul by Lodi results in a free-kick for Milan in a dangerous position 30 yards away from the Udinese goal. Niang steps up and curls a lovely cross over to the far post, where Alex is waiting patiently, but Wague rises high and cuts out the danger before Kucka's follow-up volley is deflected off a black and white shirt and out of the box.
After successfully weathering an early Milan storm, Udinese are finally able to push forward on their first attack of the game. Wague breaks out from the back before picking out Matos with a lofted pass down the right wing, and then Brazilian then cuts a lovely ball back to Kuzmanovic. The Serbian immediately unleashes a shot from inside the penalty area but it's poorly hit and ends up flying well wide of its intended target.
Bright start by Milan! The hosts immediately push forward on a quick attacking move, with Kucka doing well to charge through the middle of the pitch. The Slovakian's attempted through-ball towards Niang is cut out by Wague but the ball bounces over to Antonelli, who, in acres of space on the left-hand side of the Udinese box, ends up firing a dangerous pass across the face of goal and just past the outstretched foot of Bacca.
And we're off! Milan get us underway, attacking from right to left.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, Udinese boss Stefano Colantuono has made seven alterations to the side that featured in the aforementioned draw away to Empoli, with Thomas Heurtaux, Ivan Piris, Silvan Widmer, Bruno Fernandes, Emil Halfredsson, Ali Adnan and Duvan Zapata all making way for Molla Wague, Danilo, Edenilson, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Zdravko Kuzmanovic, Pablo Armero and Cyril Thereau.
Sinisa Mihajlovic has decided to make two changes to the Milan side that comfortably beat Palermo during the week, with Alex and Andrea Bertolacci coming into the starting line-up to replace Cristian Zapata and Giacomo Bonaventura.
Udinese substitutes: Fernandes, Duvan Zapata, Di Natale, Perica, Guilherme, Widmer, Adnan, Hallfredsson, Heurtaux, Piris, Meret, Balic.
Udinese (3-5-2): Karnezis; Wague, Danilo, Felipe; Edenilson, Agyemang-Badu, Lodi, Kuzmanovic, Armero; Matos, Thereau.
Milan substitutes: De Sciglio, Menez, Poli, Cristian Zapata, Nocerino, Simic, Abbiati, Balotelli, Boateng, Locatelli, Calabria, Livieri.
Milan XI (4-4-2): Donnarumma; Abate, Alex, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Kucka, Montolivo, Bertolacci, Honda; Bacca, Niang.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this afternoon…
In stark contrast to their opponents, it’s been a miserable month for Udinese. After picking up much-needed back-to-back victories against Torino and Atalanta, the Zebrette are now without a win in their last five games, three of which have ended in defeats. Their last two encounters resulted in draws against Lazio and Empoli, hinting at a possible change in fortune for Stefano Colantuono’s side, but they will be well aware that this afternoon’s clash is going to be far from easy. Just once in their last nine Serie A games have they managed to score more than one goal, and against a Rossoneri side that are currently thoroughly enjoying themselves in the final third of the pitch, that could prove to be a big problem. With only two points separating them and 17th-place Sampdoria, the club from the extreme north-east of the country desperately need to pick up points, and fast, if they are to avoid dropping even further towards the dreaded relegation zone.
This afternoon’s clash brings together two teams that are heading in completely different directions, with one pushing hard for European qualification whilst the other is fighting to avoid being dragged into a battle to avoid relegation. After suffering a lacklustre and somewhat stop-start beginning to the season, Milan have looked far more assured in recent weeks, and several positive performances have resulted in impressive results. The Rossoneri, who currently sit in sixth place in the Serie A table, have won three of their last four domestic games thanks to Wednesday evening’s comfortable win away to Palermo, and two of those came against fellow top-three fighters Fiorentina and, most importantly, fierce rivals Inter. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s men have looked far more assured at both ends of the pitch but are particularly impressing up front, where they have scored nine times in three weeks. After a stuttering start to his Italian adventure, Carlos Bacca has now netted in all of his last four league appearances, and the in-form Colombian will no doubt play an important role again today as his side look to pick up their third consecutive domestic victory.
Good afternoon and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between Milan and Udinese at San Siro.
