Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
United are next in action in the FA Cup next Monday against Chelsea, while PSG play Saint-Etienne on the road in Ligue 1 at the weekend.
Paris Saint-Germain secure a huge result this evening in their bid to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Goals from Presnel Kimpembe and Kylian Mbappe have handed Thomas Tuchel's men a massive advantage heading into the second leg, with the added cushion of two away goals. Given their history in the competition no lead is safe for the French champions, but they will feel confident about their chances of progressing. Manchester United endured a reality check under the tenure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. For the first time they were outplayed, failing to make an impact in the final third, while their defensive deficiencies were exposed. They will have to travel to Paris and score at least two goals to turn the tie around with the added detriment of being without Paul Pogba. It will take a special effort from this point to keep their European campaign alive.

Thiago Silva and Kimpembe are well placed in the middle to clear two crosses from Young away from danger before Mata skews a low strike wide of the target.
Paredes replaces Verratti for the visitors.
Verratti is struggling for the visitors and may have to be withdrawn here. He did have a problem before the game, but he was willing to tough it out for his team. However, 74 minutes appears to be his limit.
PSG are sitting back and inviting pressure in the final third. United are committing bodies forward in response, but it does leave them vulnerable on the break.
Young sends two disappointing crosses into the box from the left flank. From a corner he fails to beat the first man, while his second is caught with ease by Buffon.
BLOCK! Verratti puts his body on the line to stop a drive from Herrera on the edge of the box. Pogba did well to tee up his team-mate, but the Italian was well placed to deny the United midfielder.
The home side work the ball down the left flank and Shaw collects from a cross from the right flank by Herrera. He lines up a strike at goal, only to be denied by a good block by Kehrer.
United need a response here. They've been rocked by the two PSG goals and have to force at least one goal to get back into the tie.
SAVE! PSG are rolling now and are putting United under serious pressue. De Gea keeps his side in the game and perhaps the tie with a fine stop to deny Bernat's blast from the left inside channel, turning the ball over the bar.
MISS! PSG SHOULD HAVE THREE! Mbappe is played through on the counter by Di Maria. He has acres of room to surge into the right inside channel. The forward only has De Gea to beat, but he tries to chip the Spaniard and sees his effort stopped with one hand.

Á. Di María

GOALLLLLLLLLLL!!! KIMPEMBE PUTS PSG AHEAD!! 1-0!!! The French champions take the lead as Kimpembe converts from the corner. Di Maria whipped the resulting corner to the back post. Kimpembe and Rashford collide down the right flank, but the referee waves play on amid the contact and appeals from the United fans.
We're back underway at Old Trafford.
Martial is also withdrawn at the break as Mata replaces the Frenchman, who may have been carrying an injury.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have been disappointed with his side's performance in the first half. They have been free flowing in the Premier League in his short tenure, but this evening they've been a bit tepid, which could be due to nerves. Alexis Sanchez's arrival may give the home side a touch of composure in the final third to open up the contest.
It has been a tepid first half between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of this round-of-16 Champions League clash. The visitors have had the best opportunity of the match when Kylian Mbappe was put clean through, only for the Frenchman to fire wide of the target. Mbappe may have been offside anyway, which would have been interesting if VAR were to be involved. Other than his miss, both teams have been quiet in front of goal. The biggest issue for United was the loss of Jesse Lingard due to injury. Both managers will be demanding more from their teams after the break.

It has been a scrappy game thus far. Neither side has operated near the peak of their powers, which will suit the visitors a lot more than United.
United win a corner, although once again the visitors are able to clear the danger. Lindelof collects and lines up a strike from distance, but his effort goes tamely past the post.
Young and Di Maria collide down the left flank, with the United skipper sending his former team-mate into the stands. There is a coming together of both teams, but the referee does well to bring the incident under control. Di Maria appears to be ok after falling towards advertising boards.
OFFSIDE! PSG break through the United midfield and Marquinhos threads a pass through looking for Mbappe. Di Maria takes over from the Frenchman and tries to round De Gea, only to place a tame effort straight at the keeper. However, the Argentine was offside anyway.
Tuchel is not happy with his team and their distribution in the first half. The same could be said for United and Solskjaer, although he has been more passive on the bench.
Yet another player goes into the book this evening. Bernat fouls Young and is yellow carded.
Kimpembe takes his life into his own hands as he lunges in on a challenge with Shaw. The referee deems that it was a fair one, although it was a close call.
United are able to clear their lines from the resulting free-kick. The deliveries into the box have not been good enough from either team this evening.
Young takes out Mbappe on the counter down the left flank and goes into the book.
United open up PSG down the left flank as Martial releases Shaw. However, the cutback from the United left-back is cleared on the slide by Kimpembe.
MISS! MBAPPE HAS TO SCORE! Verratti and Draxler combine to open up the United defence. Both sides are not committing too many men forward at this stage. It has been a reserved start at Old Trafford.
Another booking for the visitors as Draxler is carded for a foul on Herrera.
Kimpembe makes a vital clearing header at the near post to prevent Young's dangerous cross from reaching three United players in the middle waiting to pounce. He had to make that header.

Lingard makes a run into the final third and releases Rashford. The England man has options in the middle, but he fails to beat Bernat with his pass inside.
PSG are able to clear their lines from the free-kick. A wasted opportunity for the home side in the opening minutes, although this United side is lacking in height outside of their central defenders and Matic.
Lingard has space to surge into after collecting Matic's offload, but he gets tripped by Marquinhos before he can advance into the final third. United have an early free-kick.
We're underway at Old Trafford.
There will be a minute of applause before kick-off in memory of Emiliano Sala and Gordon Banks.
No French team has ever beaten Manchester Utd away from home in European competition (D4 L10). In the Champions League, only two French sides have avoided defeat at Old Trafford: Monaco in March 1998 (1-1), Lille in October 2005 (0-0).
PSG have made six changes to their side that beat Bordeaux last time out. Already without Neymar, Tuchel was handed a further blow when Cavani suffered an injury at the weekend. The Uruguayan misses out, leaving Mbappe to lead the line. Di Maria supports the Frenchman in attack. Kehrer, Bernat, Marquinhos and Draxler also come into the team this evening.
United have made five changes from their win over Fulham last time out. Rashford, Lingard, Bailly, Young and Lindelof all come into the fold to start against the French champions. Jones, Dalot, Mata and Lukaku drop to the bench. Chris Smalling misses out altogether.

Thomas Tuchel is under pressure to end PSG's cycle of failure in the Champions League. The club have been unable to progress beyond the round-of-16 stage for the last two seasons, losing at the hands of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Tuchel's predecessor Unai Emery paid the price for failing to reach the latter stages of the competition. Tuchel will be desperate for a positive performance in the first leg, although without Neymar and Edinson Cavani, his team are without firepower in the final third.
Manchester United have enjoyed a resurgence under the tenure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since the Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils have been scoring freely and have moved into the top four of the Premier League after dropping only two points in their last nine games. The club have also advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup, defeating Arsenal on the road in the process. United had the opportunity to avoid a top-ranked team in the round of 16, but their defeat to Valencia in their final group game knocked them behind Juventus into second place. They've earned a break playing PSG without Neymar, but they still need a strong performance this evening to have a hope of progressing.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League round-of-16 clash between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.
