City pressed in the second period and were rewarded when Joao Moutinho was penalised for handball in the box. His strike was enough to deliver the victory to take City temporarily four points clear at the top.

Wolves produced a good response to their slow start to the season to climb into the top half. However, Bruno Lage's men are beginning to slip back into their early-season form, playing out goalless draws with Norwich and Burnley before losing at the death against Liverpool last time out. The midlands outfit are still in a good spot, but they will know they face a huge challenge to take a positive result from the Etihad.
Manchester City can put pressure on their title rivals by taking a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League this afternoon. Pep Guardiola's men are sitting one point in front of Liverpool after 15 matches following a five-game winning streak in the competition, including a 3-1 victory over Watford last time out. City were beaten during the week by RB Leipzig in the Champions League though, despite fielding a strong line-up. Guardiola will want to see a response from his team this afternoon to reaffirm their Premier League dominance.
