The Brazilian attacker has struggled since his big-money move to Barcelona 18 months ago and could be set for a shock reunion with his former club

Philippe Coutinho is 5/1 (6.0) to return to Liverpool this summer after his agent hinted a move to Anfield could be on the cards.

The Brazilian left the Premier League side for Barcelona in January 2018 after over four years with the Reds, with the La Liga champions reportedly paying a club-record £142 million for his services.

However, Kia Joorabchian told talkSPORT: "It would be very difficult for Philippe to play for any of Liverpool’s rivals, because he has such a great affinity towards Liverpool.

“His time there was fantastic. His heart and affinity is very much with Liverpool."

Coutinho played 201 times for the Reds in all competitions, scoring 54 times in total including a famous hat-trick against Spartak Moscow in the Champions League.

bet365’s price of 5/1 (6.0) makes Liverpool the third-most likely destination for Coutinho this summer, with the online firm going Evens (2.0) that he stays with Barcelona.

“Coutinho’s big money move to Barcelona hasn’t really worked out for him and inevitably there are reports about the Brazilian going back to Liverpool,” said bet365’s Steve Freeth.

“However, with the Neymar situation, we think PSG could be a more likely destination come the end of the window.”

A move to the Ligue 1 champions is a 6/5 (2.20) shot and it appears as if Coutinho’s future is intrinsically tied to Neymar’s future, with the Paris Saint-Germain forward looking to return to Barcelona.

There are reports that PSG rejected a swap deal involving Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and €40 million (£36m) for Neymar, with the French side allegedly not interested in selling for anything other than the €222m they paid for him two years ago.

A move to Paris for Coutinho is seemingly off the cards, then, unless the club manage to recoup their initial transfer fee for Neymar and then decide to pursue the 27-year-old as a separate transaction.

The Evens (2.0) price on him remaining with Barcelona this summer could well prove popular as a result, with the Catalans unlikely to let him go for a nominal fee should they decide to sell their record signing.
