Sergio Aguero has fired himself into Golden Boot favouritism after netting his second hat-trick in just seven days on Sunday.
That moved Aguero to joint-top of the Golden Boot race with 17 strikes and 888Sport make him 5/4 (2.25) favourite to claim the coveted prize for the second time.
The Argentina international looked to be slipping out of contention just two weeks ago, having missed four games through injury, but seven goals in his last four matches has propelled the City striker to level at the top with Mohamed Salah.
Salah won the individual prize last season by scoring a record 32 goals and is 6/4 (2.50) to make it back-to-back successes. That would make him the first Liverpool player since Michael Owen in 1999 to achieve the feat.
The Reds have won all 16 Premier League games he has scored or assisted in this season and fans will want him to keep netting as the club chases a first Premier League title.
It looked as if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be one of Salah’s main challengers in his first full season at Arsenal, but the goals have dried up in 2019 and he is now 7/1 (8.0) with 888Sport.
The Gabon forward is still only two strikes behind the leading pair, but he has scored just twice in his last six games and was ill for his side’s trip to Huddersfield - who have the second-worst defence in the league.
Harry Kane is available at 14/1 (15.0) and may prove a shrewd bet at longer odds considering he has 14 goals this season and could return from injury in time for Tottenham’s next Premier League game on February 23. That would be two weeks ahead of the initial assesment for the 25-year-old who has a fine record at finishing seasons in red-hot form.
