Juventus v Fiorentina Live Commentary, 06/11/2021

1 - 0
J. Cuadrado (90+1)
Allianz Stadium

That concludes our commentary of the Serie A fixture between Juventus and Fiorentina! We hope you’ve enjoyed it!
Club football comes to a break as November sees the return of international fixtures. Both sides are back on the 20th in difficult fixtures as Juventus travel to face Lazio while Fiorentina host Milan.
A late Cuadrado goal gives Juventus all three points after a nervy 94 minutes; their first win in four Serie A matches. It was a tight affair that could have swung either way after 70 minutes, but Milenkovic’s sending off with just over a quarter-hour left in the game gave the hosts an undeniable boost in momentum. Allegri’s changes worked as it took just 13 minutes to score after coming on for Rabiot - a goal that sees the Bianconeri shoot up to eighth place, tied with Fiorentina. The Viola looked capable of winning the match before the red card and will be disappointed to not come away with anything. They stay seventh.
R. Bentancur
P. Dybala
90' + 3' Bentancur is on for Dybala as Juventus look to hold the lead.
M. Locatelli
90' + 1' Locatelli's pass is credited as the assist as Juventus finally put themselves ahead.
J. Cuadrado
90' + 1' CUADRADO SCORES AGAINST HIS FORMER CLUB! 1-0 JUVENTUS! The substitute bails out his side in a big way, stepping into the penalty area on the right and working a yard of space ahead of Biraghi, who was tasked with defending him. The winger drives to the byline and fires a shot that squeezes in-between the goalkeeper and the near post!
90' The fourth official indicates four minutes will be added to the end of the half for stoppages.
Kaio Jorge
Álvaro Morata
88' Jorge gets two minutes to make an impact as Morata's match comes to an end.
D. Rugani
Yellow Card
88' Rugani is shown a yellow card for bringing Vlahovic down before the forward could turn in midfield.
86' GREAT SAVE! Cuadrado’s cross from the right is met by Chiesa on the penalty spot. The winger hits a first-time volley looking to catch the keeper off-guard, but he puts it too close to Terracciano, who parries the effort away from danger.
84' Chiesa looks to take Martinez Quarta on after receiving a leading pass from Dybala, but the defender displays his pace as he keeps up with the winger before shielding the ball and letting it go out for a goal-kick.
82' MORATA SCORES BUT HE’S OFFSIDE! Cuadrado’s lovely cross from the right is shaped perfectly for Morata, who gets on the end of it with a powerful volley. The linesman’s flag goes up immediately however as it appeared as though even the striker knew he was offside.
M. Nastasić
Yellow Card
81' Nastasic is booked for a poorly timed sliding challenge on Locatelli.
M. Nastasić
G. Castrovilli
78' Italiano sends a centre-back on for a midfielder as Nastasic takes Castrovilli off.
J. Cuadrado
A. Rabiot
78' Former Fiorentina man Cuadrado will get a chance to show his quality as Rabiot's match is over.
A. Duncan
G. Bonaventura
78' Duncan replaces Bonaventura as Fiorentina look to hold onto a point for the final 12 minutes.
77' CHIESA DENIED BY THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BAR! The Italy international does phenomenally well to get on the end of a poor pass into the penalty area, turning his man before firing a powerful volley which sends the goalkeeper sprawling! Unlucky for the winger however as the crossbar comes into play - preventing Chiesa from scoring against his former side.
José Callejón
75' Julio is sent on for Callejon as Italiano looks for fresh legs.
R. Sottil
R. Saponara
74' Fiorentina make changes immediately as Sottil is chosen to replace Saponara.
73' RED CARD! Chiesa goes on a slaloming run through midfield, attacking the space with pace and directness. Milenkovic feels he has no other choice but to stick a leg out and bring down the former Fiorentina forward, though he’d already been booked previously! The referee shows the defender a second yellow card and the visitors will be down to 10 men for the final 17 minutes!
72' Fiorentina have now failed to score away from home in more than 230 minutes - with their last goal on their travels coming at the end of September in a 1-0 win against Udinese; a Vlahovic penalty.
70' Pellegrini and De Ligt combine to try and win the ball from Vlahovic but end up fouling the striker - giving FIorentina a free-kick in midfield.
68' Juventus have done well marking Vlahovic out of the game, as De Ligt and Rugani have held the striker to without a shot on target after 70 minutes.
N. Milenković
Yellow Card
66' Milenkovic's sliding tackle in midfield catches McKennie right in front of the referee. It's a yellow card for the Fiorentina defender.
S. Amrabat
L. Torreira
64' Fiorentina's first change is in midfield as Amrabat comes in for Torreira.
62' Pellegrini swings in a lovely cross but none of his team-mates gamble on the delivery as Terracciano is able to let the ball fly over his head and behind for a throw-in on the other side.
60' Odriozola goes down holding his face inside Juve’s half after a duel with Pellegrini, but the referee sees nothing wrong with the tussle as the left-back urges his opponent to get up.
58' Juventus are being kept pinned in their own area as Fiorentina win a succession of corners on the right, beside the corner flag. Bonaventura and Odriozola are doing well to keep the ball before forcing their opponents to clear it wildly.
56' Dybala’s corner finds Rugani at the far post after it was allowed to bounce through the mass of bodies in the middle, but the centre-back’s over-the-head attempt fails to find the target.
54' McKennie is back up and moving gingerly as Fiorentina come forward on the attack. The visitors seem to have picked up where they left off in the first half, dictating play.
52' Play has come to a halt momentarily for McKennie, who has taken a blow to a very sensitive area after Saponara’s cross. He’s allowed a moment on the ground to gather himself while Bernardeschi warms up just in case.
50' BRILLIANT WORK FROM MORATA! De Ligt plays a quick pass forward from defence to Morata on the edge of the 18-yard box, whose deft touch puts the ball up and over Milenkovic before smashing a left-footed volley towards goal. Terracciano is forced to dive across his line but the chance is ultimately sent narrowly wide!
48' A quick throw-in gets Juve attacking down the left through Dybala, whose brilliant backheel flick puts it through the legs of Odriozola. Milenkovic shows good awareness to get to the loose ball and fire it off of Morata - putting it behind for a goal-kick.
46' Juventus get the match restarted from the kick-off!
L. Pellegrini
Alex Sandro
46' Juventus make a change at half-time as Pellegrini comes on to replace Sandro at left-back.
In need of a win, Max Allegri will need to change something to make his side more lethal in front of goal. The reliability of Cuadrado on the wing could do the trick, although both Dybala and Morata have looked isolated which could necessitate Kulusevski. Fiorentina do not have an especially deep bench to call upon but Benassi and Duncan could add legs to the midfield.
An entertaining first half comes to a close at the Allianz Stadium with the two sides deadlocked at 0-0. Both sides pushed and prodded their opponents, with Fiorentina certainly looking the more dangerous side in the early stages. The hosts certainly did well to wrestle back possession but the Bianconeri were unable to test Terracciano as they failed to manage a shot on target. McKennie looked a bright spot for Max Allegri’s side, popping up on both ends of the pitch to give the Viola trouble.
Yellow Card
45' + 2' Danilo is booked for cynically blocking the path of Castrovilli on the wing.
45' + 1' The fourth official indicates two minutes will be added to the end of the half for stoppages.
44' Fiorentina post the second-highest possession figure in Serie A this season (56.3%, behind only Napoli, 59.9%), while Juventus are 10th in this ranking with 50.9%.
42' McKennie launches a long throw into the penalty area looking for De Ligt - who sends his header high and wide of the goal.
40' Odriozola looks for an inch of space on the right as he shapes to put a cross into the area ahead of De Ligt. The full-back does well but his delivery is ultimately blocked by his opponent and put behind for a corner.
38' CLOSE! Birahgi’s first-time cross from the left is met at the far post by Vlahovic - who sends his effort narrowly wide of the post!
36' Biraghi sends a Fiorentina corner into the penalty area but Danilo is able to clear his box. Callejon charges onto the loose ball and fires a shot from distance which he drags across Perin’s goal and out.
34' Bonaventura drives forward with intent before finding Odriozola on the wing. The right-back plays a beautiful cross towards the penalty spot which is met with a scissored attempt by Saponara. It really should be 1-0 to the visitors but the number eight sends his attempt over the crossbar from close range!
32' Fiorentina’s last two home matches have ended in 3-0 wins for La Viola, while they’ve suffered two 1-0 defeats in their last two on their travels, losing to both Venezia and Lazio.
30' McKennie does well defending in his own penalty against the threat of Saponara. The United States midfielder comes across and gets ahead of the forward - playing a pass off of the Fiorentina player and winning a goal-kick for his side.
28' The booking has further ramifications for Martinez Quarta, who will be suspended in Fiorentina’s next match; in seven days' time against Milan.
L. Martínez
Yellow Card
26' Martinez Quarta's cynical foul through the back of Morata sees the Argentina centre-back booked.
25' Martinez Quarta has pushed forward in order to join the attack, but his centring pass to Vlahovic is poor as Rugani is able to come across and clear.
23' Biraghi whacks a hopeful left-footed cross to the back of the penalty area in order to keep the ball in play, which Callejon is able to get a free header to. De Ligt marks Vlahovic well though and gets to the pass first to clear it away.
21' Dybala’s free-kick is clipped in towards Alex Sandro, but Saponara’s twisting header sufficiently clears the danger.
20' De Ligt plays a wonderful ball over the top for Dybala, who tests Martinez Quarta as he drives towards goal. A pass inside to Chiesa opens up the visitors through the middle but a tactical foul gives Juventus a chance from a set-piece.
19' Fiorentina haven’t lost in their last two games against Juventus in Serie A (W1 D1), they could remain unbeaten in three league games in a row against the Bianconeri for the first time since 2008 (four in that case).
17' Play is stopped as the goalkeeper is receiving treatment for what appears to have been a finger in the eye. De Ligt had gone up for an aerial duel with Terracciano, who went down promptly after contact as the eye appears to be bloodshot.
15' Dybala’s corner is taken short to Chiesa, who promptly returns the ball to the Argentina international on the edge of the penalty area. He shifts forward and opens up a pocket of space for a low shot but it’s blocked on its path towards goal allowing for a clearance.
14' McKennie drives forwards and tests Martinez Quarta, whose well-executed sliding tackle puts it behind for a corner-kick.
12' Dybala’s second corner is a good one but Morata is unable to direct his header towards goal as it exits the penalty area on the far side.
10' Juventus’ first corner is swung in by Dybala but it’s an unconvincing delivery that the first man is able to head away.
8' Castrovilli is unable to control the bouncing ball in the penalty area, allowing Danilo to come across expertly and shield it behind for a goal-kick.
6' Callejon plays a cross into the 18-yard box looking for Vlahovic on the penalty spot. Locatelli is back to do the defensive work though - as he volleys the delivery out for a throw-in.
4' Juventus are very quick to give the ball back to Fiorentina after winning it in midfield. The visitors have been cool in possession, dominating time on the ball in the early stages.
2' Odriozola bursts into the penalty area on the right but a poor delivery across gives Saponara no chance of keeping the ball in play.
1' Fiorentina get the match underway from the kick-off!
Fiorentina make just two changes from their 3-0 win over Spezia last weekend, with Odriozola in for Venuti at right-back, and Callejon preferred to Sottil on the right wing.
Juventus make six changes from the XI that lost 2-1 to Hellas Verona last time out. A change at goalkeeper sees Perin replace Szczesny, while Bonucci makes way for De Ligt in defence. Chiellini was slated to start alongside the Holland international, but an injury in warm-ups sees Rugani start ahead of of the veteran centre-back. Two alterations in central midfield see Arthur and Bentancur dropped for McKennie and Locatelli, while Cuadrado starts the match against his former side on the bench, with Chiesa coming in to play right wing.
FIORENTINA SUBS: Matija Nastasic, Sofyan Amrabat, Michele Cerofolini, Destiny Egharevba, Riccardo Sottil, Marco Benassi, Youssef Maleh, Lorenzo Venuti, Aleksa Terzic, Alfred Duncan, Igor Julio, Antonio Rosati.
FIORENTINA XI (4-3-3): Pietro Terracciano; Alvaro Odriozola, Nikola Milenkovic, Lucas Martinez Quarta, Cristiano Biraghi; Giacomo Bonaventura, Lucas Torreira, Gaetano Castrovilli; Jose Callejon, Dusan Vlahovic, Riccardo Saponara.

With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let's take a look at how the two sides are lining up - starting with the hosts!
Seventh place Fiorentina could go six points above their opponents in the table with a win in Turin today. The visitors won the equivalent fixture 3-0 last year with an opening goal from Dusan Vlahovic - who remains in fine form; having scored a hat-trick last week to power Vincenzo Italiano’s side past Spezia.
Old rivalries are renewed once again as the Bianconeri welcome La Viola to the Allianz Stadium, in search of their first league win in four matches. A midweek thumping of Zenit in the Champions League should buoy the hosts, who find themselves in 10th place after losing to Hellas Verona 2-1 last weekend.
